Cool. Sure didn't take a discount but they have a lot of cheap contracts anyway.

Steal by Sens, Karlsson is phenomenal offensively and very underrated defensively.

I would certainly consider 6.5M a discount for a player of his calibur

People know the CBA is expiring right. The owners would happily have another lockout to stop the increases. Regardless, great news for sens fans, great player locked up long-term.

He'll get what a lot of people expected he would. Good deal for both of them.

Carry on..

It's fitting that another Swede is taking over the reigns for the Senators. Anyone think he could be future Captain?

Great deal for the Sens. Now they have to figure out what's up with Daniel Alfredsson.

Somewhere in Sweden, Oliver Ekman-Larsson is celebrating.

Any other young top tier defensemen going to use this contract as a starting point in their next negotiations? Petro? Subban? Hedman?

Now what does this do for Ryan Suter's potential deal?

I'd be happy if I was one of the following:
- Sens fan
- Sens management
- Erik Karlsson

good deal for all.

With David Jones getting $16 million for 4 years and the other escalating contract prices we're seeing I think this is a great deal for Ottawa.

Seems right.

Good for Sens, they should be very excited to have him locked up so long.

When they get nominated for Norris and put up 70+ points in a season, they may have a case.

They could, but they don't really have quite the leverage that Doughty and Karlsson did in terms of the Norris nomination.

Except for the fact that could and will are the same because they're both in terms of speculation. Unless you're a telepath you can't know if they "will."
