If OEL becomes a PPG d-man, then he has every right to celebrate. Don't get me wrong, I think OEL is an outstanding d-man on both ends, but get back to me when he scores 78 points next year.

uh... OEL's agent can't list Karlsson as a comparable... He's never lead the NHL in points (for d-men), no all star games and no norris nominations. The Karlsson contract has no bearing on his next contract.

Only Petro har a solid case for a >$6M contract among those. And Hedman has already signed a contract for roughly 4. Subban and OEL are $4.5-5M D's right now.

He got his jersey number. Very fair.

Not liking playing against him six times a year for all these years to come.

Great value.Karlsson is a stud.

It seems the 08 d-man are killing it in terms of big contracts!

Myers 7/38.5
Karlsson 7/45.5
Doughty 8/56

Let's see what Pietrangelo gets now, my guess 7/42.

Except how can a defenseman like Hedman or Subban use Karlsson's contract as a starting point? The reason Karlsson is making 6.5 long-term is because of his recent break out year. If he put up a 45 point season, he'd probably be looking in the ballpark of $4.5-5 million. Until Hedman or Subban can break out like Karlsson has, they can't be asking for Karlsson money.

OEL and Petro might be able to because they're breaking out. Probably not OEL (yet) but Petro could demand that for sure.

Just as a comparison, its 9.24% of next years Salary cap.

Greens 18 goal 56 pt season in 08 got him 9.25%.

Erik Karlsson re-signs with the Senators for 8 years, $50 million ($6.25 mill per year). Book it.
Or not.

At 6 mil... does that make him an econo stud?

So much for the RFA second contract. At least we still have ELCs. Anyway, Senator fans all seem quite please with the signing, so congratulations.
