Vasilevski.

We really need a #1 goalie prospect, need to be prepared for the worst if Lundqvist retires early for some reason. Devils get robbed of him and we get a future backup at the least in a few years. Works for me.

Last time we drafted based on a rival's need was Sanguinetti. Use the pick to stock up something we lack: scoring. If lunqvist leaves, blow it all up.

Just going from things I've read... why is Brian Hart not an option?

With our first pick, I'd like to see...

Gaunce (I know they'd have to trade up for)
Wilson
Matteau
Kerdiles

And with our second pick...

Hyka
Jankowski
Bozon
Sissons
Pearson

Gaunce, Wilson, Matteau, and Kerdiles are big nasty power forwards. Wilson is a real homerun swing if you ask me, because he could end up being a bottom 6 player if you ask me. Kerdiles I like because I think he might have the best combo of speed, size, and skill, and is a RELENTLESS forechecker, which is Tortarella style hockey.

Hyka a tremendous skater with a great skill set, and we need better skaters up front, Jankowski is a raw talent that hasn't been tested, Bozon is a goal scorer and we need those and with Pearson it's just a matter of whether he's done developing or not.

49gp-9g-18a-27pts-141pm.

Pretty much everyone acknowledges that Wilson's output was on the disappointing side because it's thought that he has more talent than that. But anyway I made a Lucic-Chris Neil comparison and he may fall somewhere in between but even with Neil if you remember the question asked on this board after the playoff series with the Senators--about if we could take just one Senators player who would it be--a lot of people went with Neil because he was a really effective player--even though he doesn't score a lot.

Wilson may be a forward type version of McIlrath--maybe not put up a lot of points but other teams will have to keep their heads up. Rangers have talented players coming along. They could be one of the toughest teams and hardest teams to play against if you spot players like Mcilrath and Wilson throughout the lineup. These guys aren't exactly goons--they can play. Keep in mind as well--it doesn't hurt that Miller's been a teammate.
Similar numbers, yes, but lucic was taken 50th. We're talking about 28th. HUGE difference. I would take a flier on wilson around 50th for sure, but hes not worth a 1st round pick.

Screwing the Devs was just an added bonus, not the reason to draft him.

Out of the players left, I voted for Mark Jankowski. I think he has the most offensive potential.

If he wasn't there, I would draft Martin Frk. Great shot and scorer. A poor man's Brett Hull. Remember, Brett Hull wasn't a great skater either.

If the Rangers decide goalie is a need, I think Andrei Vasilevski would also be a great pick. Best goalie in the draft and great value at 28. Any of these 3, would be a good pick at 28.

It's almost as if you're arguing for the sake of it. First he can't be a Lucic like player because he didn't score enough goals in his draft year--then when I show you he put up better numbers than Milan did in his draft year you're best is 'Well Lucic was a 2nd rounder'--so what?--you do a do over of Lucic's draft year--guess what?--Lucic probably goes in the top half of the first round.

And to me Pearson is a real reach at that spot. Definitely taking Vasilevskiy, Jankowski, Subban, Bystrom, Dansk and Matteau over him anyway--and maybe Matheson too.

If we draft him. I hope he fulfills his commitment to Providence.

I used to go to hockey camp there every summer when i was a kid.

I would absolutely drive up there for a weekend to watch him play.

Said the same thing about sangs. We need a goalie now like an std. We at least needed a pmd back then. Enough with the bangers and rugged types. Trade the pick or get a scorer.

If Wilson wound up as another Neil, I'd be far from unhappy with that pick.

I've wanted Neil as a Ranger for years. What we saw against us in the play offs is why Ottawa never let him get away. Total pain in the ass to play against.

Kerdiles
Jankowski
MacEachern
Nieves
Wilson
Matteau

That's my list. Not in any order, except for Kerdiles #1.

I disagree. It can never hurt to have a prospect like Vasilevski in the system. He won't be ready really for another 4 or 5 years (from what I've heard), and by then Henrik will be 34-35, not exactly young.

There's no guarantee that the King will play until he's forty, and I'd feel more comfortable with the team's future with a legit goaltending prospect.

Can't go wrong with Tom Wilson if he can improve his offensive output. He posted respectable numbers in the PO's, but was medicore at best during the Reg. season.

The good thing about Wilson is that this kid was a beast of a man last year at 17 years old, 6'4" and 200lbs? he can grow an inch and add 15-20lbs and be a physical monster.

Would hope that he can develope an offensive game And shift to LW
This closest to why I too took Pearson. Other things being equal, which they are not, I might gamble on Wilson to grow. But growth physically is not a guarantee of improved scoring ability.

On the other hand, Pearson is not a shrimp at 6'0, might have a 2nd growth spurt to 6'1", 6'2", though I doubt it, and more importantly, he already has great scoring, w/gifted hands + proven shot.

Plus we need scorers AND LWs!!!!
If this guy can be fast tracked - a big IF - maybe he can pull a Kreider and be here for next year's playoffs.

Probably 2nd round at earliest, IMO.

Matteau is leading this poll? Are you kidding me? Even in a mock draft this fanbase just can't let go of 1994.
