What? How did Stamkos' points matter more than Malkin's? TB didn't even make the playoffs.

No player in any sport should ever win MVP if they don't make the playoffs, unless they have a historic season.

[QUOTE=kaneone;51098261]One reason is the post above. EDIT - Now a few posts above.

Another is that just because a goalie had a better season than another doesn't mean he was more valuable to his team.

For example, I think Quick was more valuable to the Kings than Lundqvist was to the Rangers because of how many times Quick kept them in the game. The amount of 1-0 losses he had were crazy. None of that means he had a better season than Lundqvist. Lundqvist plays in a much harder division for goalies. I think his numbers were more impressive, but he wasn't as important to the team as Quick was to LA.[/QUOTE

Honestly, how many games did you see Quick play this season to say he kept the Kings in more games than Hank did? Do you know how many one goal games each team was in (taking out EN goals)? Its virtually identical and their stats are almost identical. I cant honestly say I know who was better this year between Hank and Quick and there are VERY few people, including a lot of those who voted who really do have an educated opinion based on watching each guy a substantial amount of games but i do know that Hank over a 5 year period has been the best goalie in the NHL.

Could be a way better band out of Canada if you ask me. And honestly, I'd almost rather Celine over Nickleback. She at least puts emotion into her music.

I think this whole awards show thing is stupid. I know it is the NHL trying to market their sport, but honestly is anyone beisdes die hard hockey fans going to watch anyway? It is always so awkward.

I am actually going to the awards and my parents are flying out here for it. I live in Vegas now (I used to live in Rochester) and I have one to all of the awards. The red carpet is A LOT of fun.

The point of the awards are to reward the players....a free weekend in Vegas. The awars had a rough start in Vegas. It didnt have many A list actors and the Main Act was Shaka Khan. Yikes. This is the fourth year here and it finally is respectable. As much as everyone hates Nickelback...it could be Shaka Khan. I look forward to it every year.

I'm going to miss the show for Graduation. Going to be glancing at my phone every 2 minutes to get some updates.

I watch every year or at least have it on the TV while I do something else but you're right it's so awkward. So many cringe-worthy moments. It's always fun to hear from the players when it's not a generic pre-game or intermission interview, although I guess award accepting speeches are kind of generic.

Good lord, just book Arcade Fire and get this pseudo-argument about Canadian bands over with. Just kidding, they would not be even remotely interested.
Nickelback always seems so completely unpopular with almost everybody who gives an opinion (not even counting those who mount organized resistance to them). I guess the pollers never ask anybody from that young male demographic which has made the band stinking rich, rich, rich. Either that, or none who are asked wants to admit to liking them, on the record (pun intended).
Sometimes, I think people doth protest too much.

I can't see Malkin not getting the Hart, it would floor me if Hank won it.
The Vezina I really think may be 50/50 toss up between Quick/Hank.
Hank could honestly walk away with 0 trophies or 3.
I actually think his strongest chance is the Lindsay.
