You don't draft a kid because he father played for the team 20 years ago. Matteau projects to be the type of player the Rangers already have enough of. You need high end skills player, you move up, move down the pick to acquire a veteran scorer, or move down to get more picks/assets. Matteau would not be on my wish list, they have more pressing needs. I'd rather have Frk, MacEachern, Pearson, Di Giuseppe, Hart, or a puck moving defenceman.

Has Brian Hart's stock been dropping? Not long ago, people wanted him with the number 28 overall pick. One mock I just read had the Rangers taking him at #59 overall (www.thehockeywriters.com, posted on May 21 The ones I have read recently don't have him as a first round pick.

I doubt he'll be available at #28 though. I hope we pick him. We could really use a good G prospect too. Do you think Subban, Vasilievski are gonna be available in the 2nd round?

I myself would love if we drafted Frk. Great future player IMO. Good offense, great shot. He really impressed me when I saw him play for Czech Republic (who had an awful team that year) he was just dominating and putting up great numbers. He carried his line IMO.

What do you guys think of him? I've seen him a few times. You guys have probably seen him more than I have.

p.s what's up with everyone wanting checkers? we have alot of blue collar players in our NHL team and a few prospects like that. We need goalscorers, skilled players. And a G prospect.

I think that if the Rangers have Howie Rose make their pick, that will be a sign of who they are taking

Of the players mentioned I went with Wilson, however I don't think he is there when the Rangers select. A month ago I would have went with Frk, but the more i read the "one-dimensional" reports I like the Wilson pick more. Behind him Subban, Frk and Matteau.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I have never watched Frk play. I can think of two guys who were considered top 10 picks and fell in their draft year and now look like dynamite prospects (Saad and Ty Rattie). I believe going into the year Frk was considered a top 10 pick. Could he be on a slower development curve such as the previous two mentioned? Just curious.

And a huge to Matteau being so close in this poll.

I've wanted Neil as a Ranger for years. What we saw against us in the play offs is why Ottawa never let him get away. Total pain in the ass to play against.
I understand the Neil love, I like him too, but Im sorry a Chris Neil is not a first round pick. If he did turn out to be like a Lucic, then tremendous, draft him, but he projects to be more or less a bigger Chris Neil and there is nothing you could say to convince me to wanna do that in the first round.

Agree with you. No 3rd line checkers. Someone who can score once in a while.

I have seen Frk a couple of times and if he is the NYR first pick I would not be upset. Probably needs another year of major junior because he only played half the season last year, choosing him would be a step in the right direction.

I'm glad people are finally jumping on the Frk bandwagon. I have been supporting Frk as our pick for a long time. Have seen a lot of Frk video and he reminds me of Brett Hull. Great shot, great scorer. Brett Hull lite !!!

I like Frk as well - but again, given the rankings, I'd like to be getting him as one of our high second rounders after a trade down.

Agreed. If the players that the Rangers like are gone at 28, trade down and get Frk in the early second, if he's there. That would be ideal. Don't know if he'll last till the second.

Went with Jankowski.

First, he has tremendous upside. Looks to be a possible high-end playmaking center.

Second, he's committed to Providence College. NCAA is the path i would like for a player like him. He can be pushed toward the CHL but i will never be behind the decision to skip on the NCAA where he'd be playing against young adults, and instead opt to play in a teenage league in the CHL. Miller could have gone to play for North Dakota. Instead he played in Plymouth with several 15 and 16 year olds on that roster.

Of the options listed, I'd go Jankowski, and advise him to honor his commitment with Providence. Its a good school. Its a nice arena. Its a good place to develop.

Your right. Obviously we would want another Lucic, but who knows where these kids will wind up, right? I just finished reading Angelo Esposito's Wikipedia page. Just an Amazing outcome after all the hype that guy got.

This draft is pretty top heavy from what I can gather. My point was that if Wilson wound up being our home grown version of Chris Neil, that would be way less than terrible.

Or the year before when he was first eligible. I doubt Wilson will fall two more draft years and there's a reason for that. Besides I wasn't saying Pearson wasn't draftable, just that players numbers go up, just like Pearson's did.
