I've been a police officer for over eight years and have dealt with many situations such as these (the he said/she said sexual assault thing, not the possible celebrity shakedown thing) and this comment might be one of the most absurd things I have ever heard

Clearly this women didn't do any research on Drew before she accused him.

Well, it led off the 10 o clock news on Channel 9.

They said Gloria Allred has no comment. That might be a first.

So you can expect it to be the lead during the 11pm news on the other stations too .

Its just too bad they wont lead off the news if this case turns out to be false. The damage to his reputation is already done.

Must be a slow news day.

If she isn't commenting, then I assume she knows her client is a turd.

She's just waiting to hold a press conference tomorrow to get maximum coverage. She's wrote the book on that move.

Of course, with Hermosa PD throwing the claimant under the bus, that doesn't help the prosecution's case much.

It will probably be thrown out, but the only way Doty actually gets "cleared" is if there is a statement by Hermosa PD and/or the DA to that effect.
This.

Ugh. Even though it seems pretty obvious Drew didn't **** her, he's got to avoid these situations. For ****s sake....

....okay, I'm not gonna sling words about the woman filing charges. I don't know her personally any more than I know him.

I will say if there's some tangible doubt, and not the fabricated kind of doubt some victims get, then he ought to be cleared pretty easily. Unfortunately, he'll take a hit in the rep department - especially with Allred on the case. (I used to like her once upon a time. Not so much anymore. Besides, how does she have time with a TV show, too?) But as pointed out, when you get multimillions, or millions, or even more than 5 buck in the bank, you have to be more careful. Random clubbers is not the best option - for many, many, maaaaaany reasons. Have a little more care.

And to make it clear, I don't know if I believe everything in the press. It's too damn cavalier in tone by the police. But maybe I'm used to the Atlanta PD's careful wording after the consistently stupid moves they make on a normal basis.

With Gloria Allred on the case, this can get really entertaining.

If she can prove she said "no" then he is ****ing screwed, and not in a good way.

The title of this thread is still wrong, even though it appears modified. Even though the Hermosa PD said FAR MORE* to the press than it intended to (see the link below), they may still decide to go forward in this matter. She may have "credibility problems" but if she is still believable then it can be a very long summer for Brad.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...sault/related/

*This might be a strong-arm tactic by Hermosa PD to screw with the DA's case. If the investigating officers and ADA disagree as to facts of a case (or even political motivation by the DA's office), then the statements issued by Hermosa PD are meant as a peremptory strike on their part to unravel any case the DA might have. (These ****ing local PDs and ADAs have these little cat fights all the time, believe me.)

She is looking for a settlement, pure and simple.

They will make a big ole stink, then about a month from now, they will approach Drew and ask for a private settlement.

They probably already did, and Drew told em to go F$%^ themselves.

Happens to Athletes all the time, Mike Richards said he doesn't date, and is very skeptical of Women cause of this reason.

Not everyone is a saint, But I wish America would go back to innocent till proven guilty. The media always tries to crucify the accused before things even see a court room.

I just don't get it with these type of people. If you want to make some money using your body (man or women). Just be upfront about it, She should have just told Drew, 'Hey Drew it's 10k to sleep with me' He probably would have payed it.

No reason to character assassinate someone, drag your own rep through the mud as well.

It is rather odd that the police would go on the record and release so much information about something supposedly under investigation. It suggests to me that they don't believe her account.

Actually he's had a girlfriend for about a year now, she's just finishing her 3rd year of medical residency in Winnipeg. And I'm sure that does make his life alot easier.

It's got to be tough being in that position for any young athlete.
It's a shame it happened to Doughty, that even if it does get tossed out, that will follow him for awhile.
Hopefully he learned a lesson.

Is anyone really surprised that it happened to Doughty?

for some reason, we've developed into a society that sucks on the tit of celebrities. From paparazzi to cluster lawsuits, people all want their share of the name game. we're a pathetic culture, but we're probably going to infiltrate the world with this garbage.

There are endless possibilities here. Maybe it's a pure fabrication, maybe it was a crime. Maybe she thought he liked her and the minute it was over he told her it was time for her to go. Maybe she felt violated as a result and is rationalizing the rest.

Maybe, maybe, maybe.

I think the girl was getting the impression this was more than a one night stand and was degraded once she saw money for a cab on the coffee table at the end of the day without a word or anything from Doughty. He probably acted like she was just some other girl and she just flipped out and started some drama to save her dignity. If she can get money out of this or not, she figures she had gotten her revenge by making things as miserable as possible for him. There's no fury like a woman scorned!
