Big Rig Kitchen location #2 or am I just reading too much into a sign?
It's "Les 3 Brasseurs" (The 3 Brewers) -- they're also opening a location on Sparks.

I can look forward to NOT eating their crappy food. This will be location number 2 for Big Rig when it inevitably goes under due to people having taste buds.

Just tried getting a reservation for draft day. They informed me they're not taking reservations, but I really don't trust the person who answered my call.

When I asked about the reservation, they had to first go and check to see if they were accepting reservations. They came back on the line afterwards to ask me how many people. After I told them how many people, they immediately informed me that, no, they are not taking reservations. If they're not taking reservations, why the **** did they bother to ask me how many people it was for first?

I recognize they're just starting out, but this is amateur hour.

Anybody else able to get a reservation on draft day?

We've got a reservation for 12 people I think. If we don't, and we don't get tables on the bar side at the agreed upon time, there will be 12 angry people.

I get the impression from various posts I've read here and elsewhere that it's still amateur hour there, yeah.

Nice to hear someone got a reservation...and what name and time would that happen to be under?

Hey Dblad,

I got a reservation for 6 people between 6-7pm for Friday earlier in the week. Basically they take limited amounts of reservations on the weekend, and no less than a party of 5.

i may not be able to to go tomorrow night, if can't I'll PM you the reservation info.

Went there for dinner last night.

The Amber and Gold are okay.
The Stout is weak.
The Brown is phenomenal.

Our food was good, but they messed up all the sides. The staff is clearly overwhelmed, but it should get better. I'll be going back.

I guess they never had a draft party there? Or at least I didn't hear about it.

Just came back from Big Rig. I really enjoyed my experience. Beer was great and wings were good as well.

Phillips even came to our table and had a chance to chat with him for about 5 minutes. Asked him about Alfie for fun : ``If I had news I would tell you``

shouldve asked him about the CBA - he's on the negotiating committee.

wonder why he's not at the PA meetings right now though.

I went last week for lunch (thursday)
It was a little disorganized (waaaay too many staff just standing around getting in the way) but the waiter was ok.
I ordered the IPA and my wife got the brown. I did not enjoy the IPA. The brown was fantastic, however.

She had the tuna nicoise. It was apparently delicious.

I had the #4 burger. Its a basic hamburger with a sriracha mayo on it, while the bun is a grill cheese sandwich....

Well, the grill cheese sandwich part was decent, but they just cut a grill cheese in half and well... half a grill cheese isn't big enough to cover the size of the burger.
Also, it was really greasy. I know, I should have expected that, but it still sucked having greasy buttery fingers after every bite.
The burger was overdone (almost burnt), and lacked any flavour. I suspect it was a frozen patty. The fries were soggy.

Now, i can attribute some of this to being a new place, but really, its not that hard to make a hamburger.

I may go back, but I won't be ordering a burger if I do.

i went to bigrigs before the prospect camp on thursday.. it was pretty packed so my buddy and i sat at the bar... i had the hefeweizen beer and it was pretty awesome... its now one of my favorite wheat beers for sure (the gold was alright), my friend said the red was pretty good too... he had the#4 burger and i am convinced that they are just frozen patties from the grocery store lol... the nachos were great tho... id go back for some brews but the food seems overpriced (but then again im a student so anything thats not on the mcdonalds value menu is overpriced lol)

If this wasn't Chris Phillips restaurant, I would have rated it just ok, no better than any other restaurant out there.

The Pizza looked awesome as I saw it going by my table!

It was kind of cool seeing people walking out with 6 packs of beer though! You don't see that every day!

The pizza there is fantastic. I had the Quattro carne, loved it.

Your opinion is bad, but you're right that their IPA is very bitter. One of the best beers. I wonder how long he'll maintain that flavour though. Seems to be panned by a lot of people expecting a "Keith's style" IPA.

IPA's are my favourite style of beer and I didn't really like it. It was only a small taster, though, I'll give it another shot. Was a bit too warm when I had it.

I had it with a meal and it was way overpowering. My food tasted like the ipa. And i like a strong tasty beer. I might like it better with some chips, nachos, etc. Or on it's own. I'll try it again.

I really like their IPA myself, probably my favourite...either that or the Hefeweizen. I tend to drink a lot of IPAs however. I hope they don't tone it down, there's lot of other choices for those who don't like hoppy beers.

They were out of IPA when I went last week, so must be popular. I love very hoppy IPA's.

I was in Ottawa for a few days so I went to the Big Rig on Monday and had a great time.

I had the beer sampler and really liked the wheat beer so I stuck with that for the night.

The people there were great. The bartender said they normally close at 10 but stayed open because they were busier than they expected, so my friend and I stayed until about 1.

I will definitely go back next time I'm on town.
