True but it still plays a factor because when a lot of those GMs aren't watching the late games they're listening to the media.

Just look at the list of Vezina winners for the current format of the award. There's only been two winners from Western North America and both were from Canadian cities. Playing in Canada negates any of that bias because all of the Canadian teams are given a crazy amount of coverage.

I'm not mad that Henrik won the Vezina. Him and Quick were equally good IMO.

Lundqvist had 17 first place votes, 120 total points. Quick received six first place votes, 63 total points. Think he'll be OK.

I'm glad I turned it on for like 5 minutes just to see if he won and then turned it off. I can't believe I actually had some inkling of hope that Quick would get what he deserved This championship is clouding my logic.

It's funny. We just can't get the break in the awards show. Drew Doughty lost the Norris award to Stanley Cup winner Duncan Keith. Stanley Cup winner Jonathan Quick lost the Vezina award to Henrik Lunqvist.

I'm sad about how little they talked about the Kings. I thought there would be more? Maybe I'm asking too much.

That's crazy. An argument can be made for Henrik, even if I don't buy it, but that's just outrageous. Most GMs clearly didn't start watching this Kings team until the playoffs (and thus their votes were already made) started.

I thought so too. Last year, they couldn't shut up about Boston.

The red carpet was all kings, all the time, so take some solace in that.

Yup everyone has to remember that these are the regular season awards. The NHL knows who has won when they announce the 3 "finalists." The finalists aren't nominees in the Academy Award sense, but simply the top 3 vote getters. I didn't realize the GMs voted, I thought it was the media who voted on it.

I guess they make sure the playoffs don't taint the whole season performance of a player. If that were the case I'm sure Quick would have won the Hart and Vezina and Sutter would have won the Jack Adams award. I'm thinking Braden Holtby would have won the Calder too despite playing in 7 regular season games. So I guess it is one way to ensure that players who deserve it actually win the awards.

I didnt think Quick had a shot going into this but after Karlsson won the Norris over Weber I thought there was a chance. Either way, Lundqvist had a solid year and there is no shame in losing to him.

Weber isn't even the outright best d-man on his own team so if he's winning the Norris it should be because he's just edging out Suter. Not that I agree with Karlsson winning though. He obviously had an amazing offensive year but he's still lost in his own zone.

Apparently I missed it whenever it was... can you guys fill me in on when Quick slipped up on the F bomb?

Not surprised. Lundqvist had no competition in the east. Most of the east went for Lundqvist and Quick had to split with Rinne. He was equally as deserving. I would have flipped if Rinne won the award.

With the Norris being voted on by the writers, I sometimes feel like these guys take past seasons into account. I guess with that logic you could say Charra would have had a good chance too. I just thought Weber would win it based on the way media portrayed it.
