Kings announce qualifying offers for seven players

http://kings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=635286

Quote:
President/General Manager Dean Lombardi of the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings announced today that qualifying offers have been sent to the following seven restricted free agents:

Dwight King - LW

Justin Azevedo - C

Andrew Campbell - D

Thomas Hickey - D

Stefan Legein - RW

David Meckler - LW

Jake Muzzin - D

The following player was not sent a qualifying offer, therefore making him an unrestricted free agent:

Ray Kaunisto – LW

Teams are required to extend a one-year "qualifying offer" to any current restricted free agent by June 25 in order to receive the right of the first refusal or draft choice compensation should that respective player sign an offer sheet with another NHL club.

If a team does not give a qualifying offer to a restricted free agent, he is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and can sign with any team with no compensation required to the player’s former club.
See ya RAY ...

Is he physical? Does he play the bagpipes?

I can finally relax now that legein is still a rfa. Did not want to see him hit the open market.

I've never even heard of this legein guy. I'm actually really suprised that dean didn't make an offer to ray.

Stefan Legein was actually highly touted coming out of juniors, was just never able to translate his skill to the big leagues. Maybe he'll make the NHL eventually, but he's perfect for our AHL, not surprised one bit that he got a qualifying offer. I don't know why people are surprised, do you guys think ppl who get qualifying offers are future Kings? Obviously they've got a shot at playing in LA one day but we also have a farm team that needs to be filled out lol.

Poor Kaunisto, I loved following him on twitter, gonna be weird seeing him tweet about playing for another team now (or maybe being unemployed hahaha.. bad joke)

Surprised to see Legein offered a contract, but it makes sense. Sucks to see Kaunisto go, but also makes sense. The looker room took a hit though, he was one of the most well liked guys and he was good at twitter etc...
