I feel bad for Slovan...I don't think they realize what they getting involved with, they need a stronger roster, than their signings show for.
agree with you. I like singing young slovaks (Kytnar, Bliznak, Hudacek) but they can not be leaders of the team. I dont know what to expect from Dmen, yes they are foreigner, elder but Boudelaine played only a few games in Minsk...Attack needs 1st line... and club does not have goalie yet, Konrad is back up as best. They are searching in finland + Huet (GM said: frech guy playing at WHC.. so Huet)
They have to be realistic in this first year. No-one is expecting them to be winning the Gagarin Cup this year.
It's about building up a core of solid players, getting the sponsorship deals and adjusting to life in the KHL.
They'll need a couple of years to get there, but I am confident they will.
yes, this all makes total sense, but you need wrestle for fans, sponsorships and etc....Not easy to do, when fighting Vityaz= for the last place in the West.

And lets not forget that if Slovan will sign players on short term deals no core building will happen, Slovan is no longer the big dog of the league...

"Young" slovaks like Bliznak, Hudacek, Kytnar, Bakos etc signed 2 or more years. As I said earlier, they are depth, not stars in my eyes

thats like catch 22, why would they spend money on long term deals when they havent played a single game in the KHL.
The players they have now are more or less local, young and all improving their stats drastically!
Its reasonable for them not to want to spend crazy amounts of money on a rookie year in the league. Chelyabinsk went from not making the playoffs to being 1st in the standings
I would floor the 1st year too, and focus on getting my youngster acclimatized as a team to play on such a higher level. Not invite a sh**load of finns and swedes and let the slovaks ride the bench to get ousted in the first round of the playoffs at best anyway.
Then the next year make adjustments according to the core and perhaps invite some good players maybe.
IMO they are a champion team and already have a core, so they dont need to pull a HC Donbass or Lev and go nuts over the signings. They'll get a couple more guys and see how the first year goes.
I doubt a club such as Slovan is living day-to-day, im sure they got the long term planned out.
my point is that it might not even be about not having money as much as not wanting to spend it.
Notes: In the past 3 years of the Slovak league has improved every year, most notably more than doubling his point production this past season. Following this trend, should be more than ppg in the Extraliga. Will definately be improving.
Libor Hudacek21
Has been with Slovan since 2009
Notes: Also been improving steadily with Slovan. This was his breakout year. 1 point away from ppg in the playoffs and a debut with the National team where he gathered 0.5 ppg! Contributing right away at a world stage.
Miroslav Preisinger21
Slovan graduate
Notes: Improved every season including 2 years in the OHL. Still young and can step his game up
Martin Stajnoch21
Been with Slovan since 2008
Notes: Also had a breakout year more than doubling his points from previous year. Even contributed with points in the playoffs
Kind of like a core that have all been with the team for years, are young, and all having breakout years. Hopefully they can all step their game up and develop more. Why would the club release people like them to sign randoms sothat they could maybe claw into the playoffs?
They also signed F Peter Olvecký to a try-out contract. Also earlier this week they signed three young players from their 11/12 team to two-way contracts:
D Peter Trška 1992
D Lukáš Kozák 1991
F Andrej Kudrna 1991
Anyone knows if khl.sk website is done for good or it will be back? Seems like they haven't updated it in forever and that's right when Slovakia has their top team in the KHL.
