I forgot the source. Apparently it is in his free press article. i heard his interview on TSN radio. The guys were really overreacting as this negotiation is beening done in the media.
I beg to differ.
I have not heard Pavelec, his agent, nor anyone from the Jets negotiate in the media. All Cheveldayoff has been saying is that things are going good and negotiations are ongoing. (Basically nothing).
Anything else in the paper / radio is just reporter opinion.
I would consider "negotiating through the media", when either the player or management actually discuss the specifics ($, term, etc) to reporters on record and try to get put pressure on the other side that way. I don't see that being done here.
I saw this posted on the Jets board and siting the Winnipeg Free Press.
Negotiations between the club and goalie Ondrej Pavelec have not been fruitful with the player seeking a four-year package in the $17-million range while the Jets are offering a three-year deal coming in under $12 million.
However, while it hints at it, it doesn't actually say anything was turned down.
