2012 Draft High/Low Predictions

Apologies if this has already been done, but I thought it would be a neat idea. Pick your favourite prospect(s) from this years draft, and state the earliest possible spot you could see them getting picked and why. Also name one team and pick you couldn't see that prospect possibly falling past.

I'll start with a couple Belleville Bulls:

C Brendan Gaunce- 8th to CAR<------> 21st to BUF

- Canes seem to covet a top 6 forward to compliment Staal and perhaps they prefer Gaunce to Faksa.

- Sabres wouldn't pass on Gaunce at 22 even if they landed Faksa at 12 IMO.

G Malcolm Subban- 17th to SJ<------> 40th to TB

- Sharks could use a stud netminder and may like Subban the most, this wouldn't fit their usual strategy however as they usually target goalies in the later rounds.

- I have a feeling Yzerman is praying one of the 3 big goalie prospects is still there at 40, and has them ranked Subban/Dansk/Vasilevski.

Let's hear your thoughts and predictions. I think we're way more likely to see someone predict those surprise picks using this method rather than a mock draft.

Girgensons 6th to Anaheim <----------> 17th to San Jose

I think if the top 4 forwards (Nail, Mikhail, Gally and Forsberg) are all gone by 6 the Ducks may want the big centre. Hes big skates hard and is hard to play against (An anaheim type player). He could be a bolter!

Teams may go with safer picks which could slip him slip to a team like San Jose which would be thrilled to see him at 17

Olli Maata 7th to Minnesota <-------> 16th to Washington

After a very strong playoffs Maata rises into the contention of top 10 with all the other top tier D men. Minnesota needs defense and could see Maata to have the biggest ceiling of all blue liners available at 7.

If Maata slips I cant see Washington passing on him at 16, especially if they pick a fwd at 11. He would definately be BPA available at 16 as well.

Tomas Hertl 17th to San Jose <---------> 27th to Phoenix

A niceley sized dual position forward who shows versatility could big a helpfull addition to San jose. Played well against the men in the czech league and had a very good WJC's.

Phoenix who need as much talant as possible up front in their prospect pool wouldnt let this talent get past them if hes there.

Hampus Lindholm 13th to Dallas <------------> 26th to Vancouver

High powered two-way sort of guy could go anywhere in there.

mikhail grigorenko 3rd to MTL <--------> 12th to BUF

Habs need size down the middle and this kid is a beast.

Can't see him going past 12th...way too talented.

Mikhail Grigorenko: 3rd to Montreal <-----------> 5th to Toronto

Everybody keeps talking about how far he'll fall...I just don't see it. If the Leafs for some reason decide they don't want the potential 1st center they have been looking for since Sundin then I think they'll trade the pick to somebody who does.

Radek Faksa: 5th to Toronto <-------------> 14th to Calgary

If Galchenyuk and Grigorenko both go in the top 4 then I think Faksa would be Toronto's next choice. Aside from that scenario he likely won't go any earlier than 8th.

Malcolm Subban: 18th to Chicago <---------------> 31st to Columbus

I'll try and bump this with a couple more:

Sebastien Collberg - 14th to Calgary<------>37th to Nashville

- Calgary should be looking for offense and may covet the Swedish scorer
- Preds should also be looking offense I can't see Collberg sliding farther than this

Mark Jankowski- 9th to Winnipeg<------>27th to Phoenix

- I know I'm stretching here but someone is going to reach for this C earlier than we expect because of his size and potential

- Could be a perfect fit for PHX but I don't see him lasting that late in the first
