French Canadian and a soon to be former Islanders player? He's going to Tampa

So who will you play him with in Montreal? Gionta (small)? Plekanec (small)? Our only scoring line is set already. I do not see the need for another soft winger up front. If we had more size I'd think about it, but the Habs need more grit on their second line.

And the hits stat can be misleading. Andrei Kostitsyn had a bunch of hits for years... He was soft as can be IMO.

Ditto. It's an absolutely poor fit for us in so many areas and no one would be talking about him as a fit for the Habs if he wasn't born in Quebec. Heck, PAP was born in Hull, his hometown team is really Ottawa more than anything.

plz no. I mix up Pacioretty and Plekanec a lot.. adding Parteneau would make things a lot more confusing when following Habs.

In fact, he'd prolly do real well with the Penguins.
Are they going to give him James Neal's contract? Wouldn't that be a trip.

Cheers,

Weight was retiring. The isles wanted to trade Hunter, who'd battled injuries the last few seasons and had 2 yrs/$4m left on his deal.

Isles flipped Hunter for Rolston( 1yr/$5m) to provide leadership. They took on only $1m more in salary. One bad contract traded for another bad contract.

Trading for Gionta, who's owed $5m per for each of the next 2 yrs holds no appeal.
I'd rather see Snow put that $5m towards the isles defense, which only has 3 players signed for next season.

I guess after seeing Tavares get 6 yrs, Grabner and KO get 5 yrs each,Parenteau also wanted a long term deal.

He's a good player, but he's gonna get overpaid on this summer's weak market.

which is always a problem on a team with a budget, where to spend the money best.

PA must have seen the cap friendly nature of all those contracts though. So if he really wanted a long term deal he would definately have to take less than Tavares, maybe even Moulson.

On the market, you're right, some team will drop stupid crazy money on him over a couple years.

You can't really compare those deals though, especially Moulson. The market has changed dramatically. When Moulson signed in January 2011, the salary cap was $59.4M. It is now over $70M, and the UFA market is particularly weak this year. There is no way Moulson would sign the same deal today.

Okay, so it appears that no one really wants him. I was just curious as to what you Habs fans were thinking. Mods, please close thread.

He's small and a playmaker.
Isn't Parenteau 6,0 ? That's not small , that's average.
But anyway i dont want him . Too high of a risk for the money he will get ( im guessing something between 4 and 5 M/year )
