I wonder if Shero is making room for youth or wants D coming back in a trade/free agency. Getting Vokoun helps with defensive needs, but I would expect more players to be coming in to address what was exposed against the Flyers.
I would imagine Shero would like to add another D if he moves Martin. Probably somebody on the last year of their contract, or sign somebody for a 1 year deal. (Just my opinion) While Depres might be ready, he hasn't proven himself enough to be ready for a full NHL season, let alone top 4 D work, and while I don't hate Martin as much as some Pens fans, 3 more years at a $5 million cap hit is just too much money and too long to hold up guys like Depres and Morrow.

Just look at his other proposals. He's either a troll or thinks every Oiler is a star.

Why PIT does this;

They get rid of a ton of cap space and softness in Letang, and get a good return for it. Smid has # 1 potential and can really lower the boom on opposing forwards (Giroux.) They also get a 4th rounder to restock the cupboard (Mama be wanting more cookies) and Omark, a good power forward prospect to play beside Crosby someday.

Edmonton gets a solid positionally sound Def-Dman and good leader in Letang.

Thoughts?
Thank God my meter isn't broken.

So much better. Thanks for doing that. Kris "soft" Letang is all yours. We'd be more than glad to unload his hefty cap hit (coming in at 4th most expensive d-man on the team). Feel free to take him now so we can start the Penguins rebuild.

I'm not, honestly.

What would you consider good value for Letang?

Letang is not available but if he was from Edmonton I'd want one of Eberle, Hall or RNH coming back at least. We're not giving up easily and it's going to cost you.

Don't think he'll be traded though and I hope he isn't. Far too good to trade away.

Ah fair enough, what about Yakupov would you consider him as a return?

No, I wouldn't. Why risk giving up someone of Letang's calibre for someone who you hope will become amazing.

Also, letting Letang go would absolutely bugger our D-core talent wise and put us a step back rather than forward - which isn't what Shero want's to do.

I can see that...he's a special player. I start to salivate thinking about him on the Oil...

You're not trolling, yet you proposed that package for Letang?

Either you are a troll, or you have no clue how to evaluate player value. And I'd like to give you the benefit of the doubt it's not the latter.

Letang is not being moved. There is not a single player on the Oilers I'd move Letang for, because then there would be a massive hole on the Pens' defense.

Problem is these moves work in video games and then affects some of the people playing it

He's only making 3.5 million... I'm pretty sure he's 4th on the team in terms of cost amongst DEFENSEMEN... How is that a "ton of cap space"

Plus, softness?!

Do you even watch Letang? His best defensive asset is his physicality

You dont buy high ans sell low. You will have to move one good one because you will want a decent return for one of them.

We won't be moving one of our better defencemen. That's not how you build a team.

Are we trying to improve a hockey team or gambling at the stock exchange here? Just asking, because that influences whether I can agree with this.

Kris Letang is a bargain at $3.5M. Why would Pit wanna part with their best D-Man?

You mispelled Paul Martin. To get Letang it would be Eberle + Klefbom, but since he is the only good defender we have, it would have to be really bad overpayment. Eberle + Hall, which you would never do.

I could live with a Letang-Eberle proposal.

Doesn't really address our needs, but it's better than Ladislav ****ing Smid.
