Our 1st round predictions for the Pens at 22nd overall: http://bangbodies.com/2012/06/who-wi...the-1st-round/

"Stefan Matteau

Left Wing – 6’1, 210 – USA
TheHockeyNews: Ranked #30
ISS: Ranked #24
Projected: Top-6 energetic power forward
Compared to: Ryan Callahan

I would personally bill him as the next Callahan. Playing for the US National Development Team, Matteau pushes guys around physically, goes in hard on the forecheck to bang bodies, and has the offensive skill set to be a scoring NHL winger. An American with his attributes, high ceiling, and style of play leads me to believe that he is very high on Shero’s board. Slated to play in the QMJHL next season."

Shero IMO will definitely be taking a goalie in this draft, however I don't think it will be with #22. And Subban and Dansk ain't making it to our 2nd rounder

Kids today are spoiled. We used to use sticks that weighed 100 lbs, while wearing our 10 lb skates, that we had to break in while popping blisters, because the only **** you baked back then was your blade and WE LIKED IT, see.

Did you ever get gear at Rupps back in the day? I remember when they had the first aluminum shaft and they wanted like $100. My boys and I were like no way I'd ever pay that much for a stick... then go grab a rack of 5030 Featherlights (50lbs worth of feathers) that lasted like two games each...

I had an aluminum stick once. Felt like such a badass. I hated that thing so fast

Where was Rupps? I'm sure I went there.

Honestly, I bought one of the first Synergy's to hit the city of Pittsburgh - that was when it was being marketed as "the unbreakable stick." I used it for an entire season, and it snapped one night at a pick up game. After that, I bought 5030's. That's no ********. 25 bucks, and I'd get 7-10 games out of them.

My favorite stick of all time though is my Easton Ultra Lite with the focus flex blade.

From the players I've seen play, I really like Aberg and Hertl. People are talking about Aberg as being a risk b/c he is "slight" but I really don't buy it. He's much more physically mature than Collberg, and also one of the older players in the draft. He's a great skater and tenacious as well. He could certainly get stronger, but you can say that about almost all players at the draft.

Lots of good D this year as well, so I would be fine w/ picking up someone our scouts really liked but fell.

I would absolutely love samuelson as a 2nd rounder, but I think late first is a little early for him and late 2nd is too late, so I doubt we'll have the chance. I would also be fine w/ picking up one of the big 3 goalies if they're around in the 2nd, but I don't want us to pick one in the 1st - no value there.

Hopefully Grigorenko is this years epic faller. Would be fantastic if we could get him. Not gonna happen though.

Only if you listen to Craig Button.

For the life of me, I don't understand where Button's "two-way center" thing comes from. Grigorenko reminds me more of a Jason Spezza coming out of junior than he does Staal. I know Spezza's improved a lot defensively, and is arguably described as solid to good defensively now. But as a prospect, he shares a lot of the attributes Grigorenko possesses: high end offensive ability, size, but needing work on his game to game compete level, and improvement in the defensive zone.

Samuelssons a kid that has a real chip on his shoulder. I like his smarts but that chip really stands out. He could end up being a Backes type.

He doesn't fight like Backes but he could play just as mean.

If I had my wish Staal goes to TO the Pens get the #5 +, while also keeping the 22nd, and bring home Dumba, Samuelsson and Dansk in the first two rounds.

I enjoy guys that play with piss and vinegar. That's actually a need for us now too.

I used composite for inline hockey but after two 60$ stick wore down to tooth picks in a month I decided they were best for ice.
