In 13 threads that has been one of the best offers.
Like it or not there is a very limited market for Luongo.

I didn't propose it, only agreed I would do it. Maybe quote the person who proposed it?

In one of these gazillion threads I mentioned an article I read which said exactly the opposite - the NHLPA wants to make it much harder for teams to shuffle players to the minors for cap relief purposes. Makes sense, their purpose is to protect their members. At any rate, it sounds like both sides want it, how extreme the restrictions/repercussions could be is the question.

Owners were discussing the possibility of the amnesty clause, whereby you could buyout ONE contract at 100% and the player immediately becomes a free agent (like in the NBA).
For what it's worth, Yzerman was asked about this. He said he has heard absolutely no discussion about it and he thinks it would be extremely unlikely that it would be approved.

the 5th overall pick and Gardiner better be coming with him

Edit he just suggested Komisarek or one of their other bad contracts would be going the other way to fit Lou's contract on the Leafs. This isn't concrete just his opinion.

Exact quote: I still believe there is a deal to be made with Vancouver provided Mike Komisarek or another bad contract from Toronto goes back the other way.

Just because your company is rich doesn't mean you should just throw that sort of money away. Especially when that money is on the books a number of years from now.

If I'm going to go to my boss and ask to burn almost 8 M in the parking lot I had better give him a damn good reason as to why I'm going to do that.
With your risk tolerance you would never start a company.
What you need to do to make money is to take calculated risks. You don't think signing Finger, Schenn and any other player involves risks. An $8 million risk for a goalie who will likely retire by then or at worst be a capable and very cheap backup is a risk that doesn't seem nearly as great as risks that most GM's take every year. Certainly a smaller risk than giving an extension to Ron Wilson last year.
Now the risks in years 5 and 6 are huge and that I freely acknoweldge.

Make it count (i.e. try to come up with some original ideas, not just repeat the last 12000 posts.).
There will be another 10 threads discussing the return if he is traded to the Leafs.

That is actually a decent looking proposal in terms of value. Probably the closest 2 way deal I have seen posted in the thousand or so for these threads.

- Toronto gets a short term upgrade in goal
- Vancouver gets a roster player to help now plus a couple of prospects.
- Florida gets a top flight goalie and a couple of forwards to keep them competitive in the short term while their prospects keep developing.

If anything I suggest that Florida is getting a raw deal in this. If anything they could use Schenn more than a forward so an extra piece would have to go to Toronto to change Macarthur out for Schenn. Maybe Florida or Vancouver's 1st rounder.

damien cox and logical in the same sentence? The only way that works is if the letters "il" precede the word logical.

There better be a damn good prospect/pick coming back with Komisarek...

Otherwise just hang on to Luongo. I'd rather pay Luongo $5 mil to win 20-30 games than pay $4.5 mil to Komisarek to be a pylon 7th d-man.

VAN would be merely a brief resting spot while on his way to his final destination. And as long as Gardiner is coming along with him, then, I say, welcome, Komi.

I think the Leafs say yes we get the stop gap we want but the Panthers say no. They are pretty high on Bjugstad. And that is way too much salary for them to take on.

To Nashville: Schenn + Raymond for Blum + 2nd

To Vancouver: Blum + 2nd (Nashvile's-50th overall) + MacArthur for Luongo

To Toronto: Luongo for Schenn+Macarthur

Fair? Who needs to add?

I guess that's one way to value players. Gardiner + a 5th is worth Kesler and Edler and Luongo.
