The Ottawa package seems only slightly better than the Rangers rumored deadline package. I would much prefer Lehner in the deal over bishop, it seems he has a much higher ceiling, even though he is probably farther off.. Zbad is obviously a great piece as well.

But too many futures to worry about for me. Id take a deal around Pavelski instead. As well as that rumored Flyers deal, but I don't think that's legit.

pretty much says it all. Some fans are either expecting too much and will blast Howson when the trade is made, Others, will blast him no matter what happens and will hate any deal he signs, simply because it was done by him.

I thought the proposed deal was generous, but I could just be suffering from Nash fatigue, and would agree to most offers just to be done.

Skraut, with all due respect, I just blasted Howson for being unreasonable. If you can tell me what part of my analysis is off, feel free. The problem isn't the prospects, it's the roster players.

Howson doesn't want Bishop, we could have had him last year. Foligno isn't that exciting, he will be lucky to ever be a consistent 20 goal scorer.

If one in three prospects works out from that deal, we lose. If two of three work out, it might be worth Nash. The only way this deal truly wins for us is if that #15 turns out great. Otherwise, best case, we might marginally win the deal.

If Howson makes that deal. I wouldn't blast him, but I wouldn't be excited about it either. At least he would have Nash's cap hit off the books and no bad contracts to go with it. However, if you expect many to get excited over that proposed deal, I'm suspecting you will be disappointed. IMO that is a high risk trade with a remote chance of high reward. That is the exact kind of deal that is more likely to have history use you as an example of being stupid than being a genius.

Well, 5pm it is. D-Time, so to speak.

I'm prepared to learn nothing, but hopeful it's resolved one way or another.

If he's already decided to talk to the media, regardless of how his meeting with Resnick goes, he's probably got nothing.

Unless the meting is to advise that one of the teams on the list has come to terms and Rick Nash will be a _________ next year.

True. It's a defense mechanism for me. I've been disappointed so often by this franchise, and particularly Scott Howson, I never get my hopes up.

The meeting might have been telling Resnick to get his client to waive his NMC.

Perhaps this is that moment in time that it turns.

Interesting. Not sure why he would want to talk to the media about getting nothing done. Howson probably has me interested about nothing.

Yeah, I stated as much earlier. At least it's not boring for the next hour and a half now.

What might we want out of Edmonton that would involve Nash (assuming the two Tweets are connected)?

Save that RD posted them both in one post, what would indicate they are connected?

My guess is Oil taking one last shot to swap 1 & 2. Nash sich is separate.

There has to be something somewhat definitive for Howson to meet with both the agent of Nash and the media. This has been extremely frustrating to endure like a bad divorce. Every knows the end result but the whole process is worse than the breakup itself.

Think Nash waives his NTC to go to Edmonton? Me neither.

Porty says press conference and meeting with Resnick were planned days ago. I wouldn't expect much to happen.

True, but Philly is pushing hard and I expect Bobrovsky and JVR are the centerpieces to a Nash trade any time now.

Could also mean they had a deal in place with one team, and gave a second 48 hours to beat it. Make press conference, 2nd team knows you're serious and is on the clock.

Maybe maybe not.

Could be just an update, "we are continuing talks". Or it could be an announcement of a completed deal. Either is certainly possible.
