I'd Staal over Ryan and Nash. But I just don't see it happening. PIT would never deal him to us. And I don't think he'd make it to free agency because he'd be dealt to carolina and re-sign there.
The Rangers want to make a move now.
And I know i'm not the only thinking that if we got jordan it would just mean the eventual addition of eric.
I'll throw up if Staal is traded, regardless of who we get in return. Seeing these proposals with Staal shipped away is beginning to make me queasy
Agreed. Having Girardi, Staal and McD is a huge, huge advantage that this team has over others. I have no idea why people want to deal one of them. Yeah, the team needs more offense, but not at the expense of the three guys who make the defense what it is.
tbh i love the idea of staal being available, but something tells me nc has a much higher chance of signing him than us. our staal just had to play defense >_>

I think the fact that we can give him a shot at the cup might help us.
Milbury vs. Howson in a battle of the worst GM competition is really a pick your poison type of thing.
Milbury acquired the pieces to build a great team (Luongo, Chara, Redden, Spezza, etc.), but turned it into **** through one abortion of a trade after another.

Definitely...go to a team in Carolina where his brother is already the #1 center, on a team that finished out of the playoffs, or go to a team where he'd be able to become the #1 center, for a potential Cup contender...I can see how Carolina would look more attractive.
Its not like Jordan would play on the same line as Eric.
Jordan easily becomes the #2 man here (just like he would in carolina) but here he has a very good chance to become the #1. He is a great PKer, good size, would fit in perfectly here.
And Howson adds : "i'm a clown i'm sorry for being a disgrace to the business of hockey"
Guess the guy should just hand over his franchise player for nothing.
This is a seminal moment for Columbus as a franchise - if you were in his shoes, would you not be trying to get as much as humanly possible for Rick Nash.
With Jordan Staal wanting to test free agency and Getzlaf and Perry potentially becoming UFA's too. Rangers might be better off waiting a year to add a big piece.
Just try to add depth this offseason. Sign Ray Whitney to a 1 year deal. Try to get Schultz and maybe another forward or defensemen.

Thats a ridiculous thing to say
Never said that but its not like he's been offered "nothing.". His star player wants out because his GM has done a terrible job of bringing players in to surround him and be competitive. So no its not ridiculous to say. I feel no sympathy for Howson. He wants the Nash trade to make up for years of mistakes; having the acquiring team look like Columbus in the end.
