Jordan Staal rejects monster deal from PIT, 10y - $60M.

Quote:
Penguins centre Jordan Staal reportedly turns down a 10-year contract to stay in Pittsburgh, according to multiple sources. Earlier this week, general manager Ray Shero told the Pittsburgh Tribune that he no plans to trade the 6-year veteran however the reports of him turning down a lucrative extension could change the landscape. Last season, Staal set a career high with 50 points despite playing in only 62 games.

It would take considerably more than you're offering. A rebuilding team doesn't give up 2 overall and one of their top two prospects unless it's ridiculous overpayment. Stepan, Aninsimov and 28 isn't close IMO... Would you make that deal if your Columbus and trying to build?

Let's not be ridiculous. It wouldn't be close to that.

Lundqvist is already the best player to come out of the 2000 draft. The only person sniffing his jockstrap is Gaborik.

Also, a lot of you think top ten picks have a lot more value than they actually do. Chances are the player you get is Sam Gagner.

Hopefully that means we turned our attention to Ryan.

Yea those two offers to Nash are definitely more than we would give up.

Time to turn our attention elsewhere.

Well pit doesn't deal him to us, so asset wise it doesn't impact our situation, he's only coming here ufa. Carolina i can see dealing for jordan, so they may withhold tradable assets for that potential move. We would just be hampered by the cap. They have budget constraints.

Jordan Staal

I touched on this in some other threads briefly but I want a little more discussion on this....

He just turned down a 10 year deal with Pittsburgh

He wants to play with his family

Any chance he signs with NYR?

If there is where does he fit?

I think our centers would look like this if he showed up
Richards
Staal
Stepan
Boyle

Discuss

Names from ‪#Sharks‬ being speculated in potential Nash deal besides 1st round pick include Clowe Pavelski and Demers.

Nowhere does it say the Sharks have offered all those players. It's a list of all that's been speculated.

We are only 374 days away from signing Jordan Staal to a free agent contract. I'll be patient.

Well eric and jordan are both centers. Marc has the best chance of being on the ice with a bro.

is it possible that these staals might be their own men? i think it's silly to assume that, since they're brothers, their overriding professional goal is to play on the same team. i understand the logic, but also think they'd be selling themselves short by limiting themselves. and also, if it's true that they just have to play together, they're a bit...goofy.

The ball is still in Nash's court. Not sure if he wants to go to Ottawa. San Jose is looking more and more like a front runner though.
