The ACTUAL quote, not bastardized by someone else:

But still it was just widely reported that Howson mentioned in his presser that:

" #CBJ GM Scott Howson says club has no interest in moving up to No. 1. Hints at strong possibility of trading down."

That specific example was from Dispatch beat writer Aaron Portzline

it's all about what Edm does. if they take Murray all bets are off. if that happens, and leafs move up, they will have a crack at yakupov

To be fair it is a bastardized quote, but he did hint at it in his presser

It would be a payback for the boos he got in 2009 montreal draft

Burke's post draft comments were epic: "I don't give a rat's a** about that stuff. The best hockey fans on the planet are not in Montréal, they are in Toronto. When we host this event in a couple of years and Montréal goes up to pick, this will seem like child's play for the booing they get in Toronto."

The Habs management should let it be known that if gally is not around come their pick than Murray is there man. That freezes the Jackets on moving down if Murray is really the guy they want. Now with that news leaked out the Habs should than offer the Jackets the 3rd OA and say a 5th for the 2nd OA and a 7th.That way the Jackets gets a 5th for a 7th and still get the guy their looking for in Murray.

Yeah, um, I'm going to have to go ahead and shoot this one down, okay? We'd prefer a better return for a trade-down than a 5th round pick.

Granted, this one's less arduous than most, since it'd still leave us in a decent position to get Forsberg. But still, it doesn't make much sense.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

I could see them moving back. I think they're targetting a defender and a guy like Murray could be available at 3,4 and Rielly could be available at 5-7. Why not move back and pick up a forward or a prospect?

All this does is guarantee you your player you want with a free 5th rd pick thrown.
Moving down to 4th will work too.Move down to 5th and there is a very good chance that both Forsberg and Murray will be gone.

Trading with Columbus for the #2 overall would be my personal MO so for the sake of discussion, what would you like alongside the #5 for the #2?

Unknown twitter account that's apparently named by a fifteen year old girl misquotes a GM and names two of the most popular teams in the league as being interested.

Seems legit.

Jackets should treat this draft like most previous drafts when considering trading down. Thus, they should treat the value difference between #2 and #5 as being exponential. If Toronto / Montreal want to complain that this draft is different and Columbus could still potentially get the player they are looking for after trading down, Howson should turn a blind ear.

Also, it would be the mark of idiocy to trade the pick before Edmonton makes their selection.

Your 2nd in 2012, and your 1st in 2013 conditional on whether or not our guy is there at #5.

(No, I'm not sure if I'm serious either.)

i believe when the leafs went from 7 to 5 to grab schenn it cost them their 2nd and 3rd pick that year i believe.

Its likely going to cost around the same.
