Selfishly, I like the fact that the local games are spread out (aka at NYR/NJD/NYI) to about once a month. Also, getting to see them twice early on is much better than waiting until nearly January last season.

Decent mix. I always liked the sunday games. Brings back the memories of the Aud when there were alot of sunday games. It looks like it is geared more for the family atmosphere with all the week day games which brings up merchandise sales.

Loving this.

The predominance of Friday home games in recent years makes it tough to get to games as an out of towner.

Some noteworthy quotes from the press release:
Quote:
In the team’s 41-season history, the Sabres have averaged 20 back-to-back sets per year. Since the 2005-06 season, they have played the most in the league. Of the 11 back-to-back sets in 2012-13, only five will take place after Jan. 1, four fewer than during the same period last season.
Most in the league since 05-06?!
Quote:
The Sabres will play only five Friday night games at First Niagara Center in 2012-13. This total is six fewer than last year’s 11 and seven fewer than the 12 Friday night home games the team has averaged since 2005-06. Also changing from previous years is the team’s preferred start time for home games, which will now be 7 p.m. on all weekdays, including Friday.

“We believe that the earlier 7 p.m. start time will make the travel schedule easier for our players and will make it easier for our younger fans to follow the team on school nights,” Black said.

The team will also play more Sunday games than usual this season, with nine Sunday dates on the schedule, including four at First Niagara Center, after playing a 2011-12 schedule that included only one Sunday game.

The Sunday home schedule includes a “Tailgate and Hockey” game on the Sunday of the Buffalo Bills’ bye week (Oct. 28 vs. Philadelphia, 5 p.m.), a home game on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 3 vs. St. Louis, 3:30 p.m.) and a Feb. 10 matchup with the Ottawa Senators. The team will round out their Sunday home games by participating in “Hockey Day in America” once again, with a home game on Sunday, Feb. 17 vs. Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m.
Sabres hockey on the Bills' bye week makes sense and having the option of watching a hockey game rather than a Super Bowl preview/pregame show is also a plus for me.

No games from 1/21 to 1/29?

That's a really long all star break.

What happens with the schedule if there is a lockout? Do they just pick up wherever they are when the lockout ends or would there be an alternate schedule?

So, 11-4=6 and 12-4=7?

Anyone catch this?:

Quote:
Friday January 11 @ Ottawa 7:30 p.m.
Sunday January 13 @ Chicago 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday January 15 @ Ottawa 7:30 p.m.
Two games in Ottawa, one road trip. Odd.

I also noticed quite a few home and homes (the latter two being consecutive):

10/24, 10/26: New Jersey
11/16, 11/17: Philthy
12/6, 12/7: Montreal
2/6, 2/8: Boston
2/10, 2/12: Ottawa

From Feb 6th to the end of the season, there is only 2 non-conference game(vs Nashville 3/2/13 & @Dallas, 3/23/13)

Much better news. I enjoy the 7pm games more than the 730. I am liking the high number of home and home games.

Woohoo! Home game on my birthday! That's such a rarity for me as the team is usually on a west coast swing in mid January.

I've heard they're already planning an alternate schedule (half season) that would start in December.

Just like every other year in recent memory when the Sabres finish the year out against the Bruins.

07-08 Last game against the Bruins (Missed playoffs)
08-09 Last game against the Bruins (Missed playoffs)
09-10 Last game against Jersey (Made playoffs, eliminated by Bruins in first round)
10-11 Last game against Columbus (Made playoffs, eliminated by flyers)
11-12 Last game against the Bruins (Missed playoffs)
12-13 Last game against the Bruins (who knows?)
When we won the presidents trophy, our last game was against the Bruins
