We are only 374 days away from signing Jordan Staal to a free agent contract. I'll be patient.
I sure hope so. That would be ideal.

is it possible that these staals might be their own men? i think it's silly to assume that, since they're brothers, their overriding professional goal is to play on the same team. i understand the logic, but also think they'd be selling themselves short by limiting themselves. and also, if it's true that they just have to play together, they're a bit...goofy.
Look at what wade bosh and Lebron did... And they r only friends. After turning down that extension, he absolutely wants to play w marc or Eric imo
if ryan's so good, why is anaheim so interested in moving him? if that's indeed a fact...
Best expendable/valuable ratio on the roster, wand they don't want to "move him badly". He is simply available. They aren't actively trying to move him.
Well pit doesn't deal him to us, so asset wise it doesn't impact our situation, he's only coming here ufa. Carolina i can see dealing for jordan, so they may withhold tradable assets for that potential move. We would just be hampered by the cap. They have budget constraints.
You're making the assumption that Shero will trade Staal. He may intend to go for the Cup with Staal in place, and then simply use the cap space vacated by Staal's departure to sign a different big ticket player. And, what would Carolina be giving up? I'm pretty sure they've made both Sutter and Skinner untouchable.

If its between Carolina and NYR for Staal he would be foolish not to go to NY. Up and coming team with great potential, could get him a cup. Having a brother here is just another bonus.
the rangers needed nash way more at the trade deadline - pre-kreider - than they need him now. maybe someone else will offer more, but the rangers should just walk away. that contract is crazy. acquiring nash means losing gaborik for sure and probably another good young player. i understand the temptation but i think (hope) sather's above it.
I always got the feeling Eric and Jordan were closer together than they were with Marc. I don't know why but that's always the impression I got. Call me the expert on brotherly relations
Hopefully i'm wrong, because I would LOVE Jordan Staal on this team. Holy ****, could you imagine?

When they played pond hockey it was Eric and Jared vs. Marc and Jordan. So there.
If Sather makes a trade with Columbus, I'd rather see him trade for the number 2 overall draft choice tomorrow night. At least the cap number won't be ridiculous. Howson allegedly wouldn't mind trading the #2 overall pick anyway, he'd probably screw that up too.

And who do we take with the #2 assuming Yakupov goes first? Galchenyuk?
Gross mentioned a Goalie as the 1st pick. I think its a good idea
I think it's a terrible idea. But opinions are like *******s, everyone's got one.
That said, I'm not nearly as concerned right now about who is going to back up Hank in 6 years as I am about rounding the current team into top form over the next 2 to 4. IMO we can wait another year or two before burning a first rounder on a goalie. Why not spend a 3rd or 4th and see how the kid develops over the next year or two? Perhaps we won't need to use a 1st. I know Henrik Lundqvist's don't grow on trees, and amateur scouting is better than it was...but certainly there are starting goalies to be had somewhere between the 1st and 7th rounds, no?
