Both teams politely decline.

Edmonton isn't going to pay that much for a shrimp.
Chicago needs to win now.

Kane = 1st overall

So we basically give Paajarvi and Marincin away for free?

Yakupov has the potential to be just as good or better then Pat Kane.

No offense to Kane, a very skilled player, but ultimately his cost isn't worth it for the Oilers. Sure, he reunites with Gagner (for however that would last), but the Oilers need size, and there's still hope that Paajarvi can provide it - and some results.

If they're gonna go small, might as well make it with the top pick this year so as not to have to worry about Kane's paystub. I'sd say a firm no thanks.

Hrm, reports about the Oilers being ****ed all that hard in this seem a little exaggerated, but it is still pretty difficult to see the appeal of trading for another teeny tiny winger, i.e. the only thing they have enough of already.

I do think a Hall-RNH-Kane line would be the best in the world but it makes no sense to trade Yakupov+ for 2 years of Kane

Absolutely no interest.
I wouldnt even be interested in Pat Kane straight up for the 1st overall.
Why? Because Yakupov brings a different playstyle that the Oilers need more of, they absolutely need his killer 1-timer because none of their forwards has one, and they'd prefer the younger player to the older. Pat Kane is clearly more proven and also there is no risk of "busting", but im willing to bet on Yakupov in that race.

Would mean Edmonton would have to hire a full time babysitter for Kane, best just pass.

I consider Yakupov to basically be equivalent to Kane in value.

Yakupov is younger and projects to be better (than current Kane, not pre-draft Kane), but is also an unproven commodity.

and you didn't even state the potential that Paajarvi or Marincin have.

I am a fan of Patrick Kane but he might be bad influence on some, plus he would probably want to play with his pal Sam.

So we trade Kane for a guy who might some day be as good as Kane. No thanks, plus I think Kane will always be the better player.

I love the word 'potential' in hockey. It means Jack Pooty.

I have a rule.I never trade for players who party with my brother on a regular basis because I know how hard my brother parties

Kane and the baggage he brings with his off-ice tomfoolery is the worst thing that could happen to a young impressionable team like the Oilers.

Ignoring that, the proposal is pretty terrible anyways imho.

Only on this forum will you even think a player like Kane would be under valued over a prospect....just wow.

If Bowman called up the Oilers and offered Kane for the first, there is no doubt in my mind the Oilers would say yes then unplug the phone. You dont get players like Kane for potential, nope, not at all.

I also dont know why the Oilers would even want Kane, they have enough scoring already.
