The Lightning are in desperate need for puck-movers that can play on the first or second pairing. No prospects or project players.

Would Giordano work for the 19th pick?

This isn't EA NHL. There's no guarantee they'll sign just because you offer them a deal..

Tampa needs legitimate top 4 D, not everybody's bottom 6 or bottom pair scraps +. We have plenty of 5-7 D ourselves.

Tampa has to add quite a bit.

You realize that it will cost much more than the 19th pick.

I don't think the 19th pick in this years draft is good enough to land an established good player like Giordano. I don't think there would be any shortage of offers of veteran defencemen with warty contracts (Ballard, Martin, etc) or prospect defencemen out of waiver options (Y. Weber), but I would be surprised if the 19th overall got something better on the backend.

A 2nd pairing defenseman shouldn't cost much more than the 19th pick. Depending upon the board, team needs/surplus, and other factors it could be as little as 19th + late round pick.

i still don't understand why they traded Quincey to Detroit when their defence could use a boost

I thought that too when the pick was expected to be 30th overall and before I watched Quincey closely.

For a top pair yes, 2nd pair not as much. I didn't say it had to be the 19th only, it depends on the player we're getting back.

I will trade my autographed picture of Faulk.

I could see the Canes dropping Joni, but they would probably have to include Jussi.

Because it was the pick they actually wanted, to use in a trade for a goalie (suspected target at the time was Schneider). We didn't have to use it for a goalie so may as well now target some D.

Can you shut up already? You go into every thread, seek out any posts by Leafs fans, and act as if every Leafs player is terrible. It's getting old.

Excellent assessment of what the Bolts actually need.

I would very much like a trade revolving around those 2 pieces.

I would say Gio would do it, why didn't TB just keep Quincey, he is the type of dman they need.
