Ryan has played with far superior talent than Nash. Ryan has played on far more competitive teams than Nash.
Nash has played for the worst franchise in the NHL his career while Ryan has played for an ideal destination for any player. The fact that Ryan, a young 20 something player not yet in the prime of his career is being shopped, should raise red flags for you.
Those are the only arguments I need to make. Offensively, Nash is much more of a prolific talent than Ryan. Put him on a better team I can see him hitting his max around 45-50. Defensively, if you were to compare the two, you'd have to go back to when Columbus had any semblance of competitiveness in them to be able to accurately make an assessment. Hard to be as committed to playing defense when you're team has like 40 points and every one else has like 80...
Read my last post. No one is denying that Nash is the better player, but as my last post eludes to I think Ryan is the better fit.
I don't think anyone is denying Nash is the better player. The guy was picked %1 overall for a reason. He's proven more for longer and on a worse team.
I think that he shouldn't be an option at his point because Howson won't budge on his price,Megan has the advantage in age and salary, and I think you'd have more success turning Bobby Ryan into a "Torts kind of guy" then Nash. And if you have a player of Ryan's talent but into Tort's system that's huge.
We have enough Torts types of guys. There needs to be a mix between the two. Not every player can be Brandon Prust and Brian Boyle on our offense. Torts has made a great job into making our team into a defensive juggernaut but you also need raw talent to succeed in this league.

I read it. I'm not saying Ryan will be a bad fit. I'm just saying I don't think it'll be as good as everyone is making it out to seem, and thus the reason for why Nash is A and Ryan is B.

We don't have a player like Ryan. I said we could mold him into a torts type of guy but he has more talent then our team of grinders.
We could get him to play a two way game and provide the offensive talent he does, yeah we have plenty of those guys on our team.

And I'm simply saying that the problems I outlined with Nash bump him down to number 2, although he's the better player.
Ok del zotto is a HUGE piece, BUT neither ana or Cbj needs him. So stop putting him into deals. Maybe put del zotto into a deal for someone else Cbj likes and flip him?
Im surprised Howson is still the General Manager... He should be on the ropes and if he is Ownership letting him make a trade like this that could make or break there team for years to come is a huge mistake.
Not sure if it's already been posted, but espn is reporting that Staal is interested in signing a long term extension and being traded to Carolina, not the Rangers. No way Pitts loses him for nothing and they'd do a deal with Carolina long before the Rangers, so you can quit posting all these bogus Jordan Staal scenarios... Next!!
Philly is win now, they're not moving up, a pick doesn't help especially if you deal roster players away. Maybe NJ, they always pull one out of left field. Vancouver with Luongo?
I think Nash with the Rangers at FULL HEALTH can put up 40G/40A
So than really any of our young forwards should be available. 40/50 goal scorers don't grow on trees, as long as its only one. I love kreider but even he won't hit 40 or 50

It's possible he is a figure head until Nash is sorted out, let the old GM take the fall and the new guy can start fresh. That's a no win situation there.

I think CK is a 30G guy, and those are rare too and not to be taken lightly. The only thing that worries me with Nash is the cap hit.
