The Nicest thing Ive ever read about the Wild (too bad its Eklund!)

Hey Mods,

I probably could have put this in numerous threads but I figured it's a nice read even tho its crummy old Eklund, but still nice to read none-the-less.. Feel free to move it to where you best see fit.

(My apologies if this has been posted already, I looked but didnt see it)

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...Update/1/45070

Some exerts:

Quote:
So you take a team who started off last year in dominant fashion. Add virtually an entire line of top breed prospects...and now realize this...

The Wild have a TON of money to spend and are willing to do so.
Quote:
When all is said and done I see the Wild as the next LA Kings...meaning , "The next team to come out of nowhere to be a major force." We have seen it many times over the past few years...A team can go from looking terrible to looking dominant very quickly. The other thing I really like about this Wild team is there ability to play tough nosed hockey...something i once again compare to the LA Kings. It could serve the Wild very well in next year's playoffs.

Fun to read something positive. Again, tho, why'd did it have to be Eklund!?!? haha

That sudden moment when I realize a guy like Eklund actually knows more about this team than anyone on NHL.com.

Eklund actually isn't terribly retarded, he's just extremely liberal with trade rumors.

I wonder if the people who complain about Eklund rumors never coming true or him personally get disappointed when they taste a cup of coffee at a dinner that advertises "Best Cup of Coffee in the World."

He's site is based on rumors. He has to have a lot of rumors to get people to come in the door.

I actually admire what Eklund does...

He makes money, hosting blogs, and drives clicks to his site.

Well done, sir... Well done.

I bet he could also answer this question correctly; "How does Twitter make money?"

Hahaha I don't think the Founder/CEO of Twitter makes very much. I might be wrong, but last I checked, there's barely any way to capitalize off of such a setup.

They have to find a way to make money off of their search engine. It's much better than Google for real-time.

Sad, but true. I did like his misspelling of Bulmer though. Bullmer looks pretty cool.

Twitter made $140 million in 2010. I'm sure they got a reasonable percentage.

It had an estimated $140MM in revenue in 2010 according to the New York Times. A recent report has pegged estimated revenue in 2016 to top the $1 billion mark.

Company value and annual revenue are only slightly related to each other. Company value is much more a function of asset value less debt than it is a measure of cash flow.

Ah man Eklund likes our future? We're frakked. Seriously tho I like our future. Honestly I haven't been as encouraged by this team since 2004. But still Eklund's words mean d**k to me. He is full of more more hyberbole than Fox News.

Anonymous. I'm guessing a staff of people that keep hockeybuzz going that claim to be Eklund. Kinda like Tom Clancy 'writes' books.

Eklund has a great stranglehold because like a lot of people know, there just never seems to be an end to speculation about trades, and he capitalizes on it well.

Excellent article, the way the Wild get underestimated, people are going to be in for a surprise the next few years depending on how free agency goes this year, we could be a powerhouse in the West.

Don't want to be a powerhouse in the West. Look how well that's worked out for Vancouver...

Twitter makes quite a bit of money and the company is valued relatively high. They just started doing "Promoted" tweets, and that is the only source of ad revenue that they have.

Hint; they don't make money off of ads...

This is a topic that makes my teeth grind. There are people that claim to be "social media experts" that have absolutely no clue (without googling) how Twitter makes their cash and trust me, they make their cash.

I did an interview for a more technical position for our Marketing group a few weeks ago. The guy in question (major hipster... ) literally said in the interview; "I am a social media expert!"

Me; "Oh yeah? Can you explain to me the Twitter business model and how they generate revenue? Also, as part of your answer, please elaborate on how a company can monetize their twitter presence?"

Him; "Ads."

I thanked him for his time and said the interview was over.
