just schenn or just couturier will not get it done for yandle and your crazy if you think that. Possibly I could see Schenn/Couturier + Matt Reed + 1st
Flyers decline. Schenn will be a stud (already was looking great at the end of the year / playoffs).
Not to knock Phoenix at all, but:
Phoenix needs center help in a bad way. If I were PHI, I would offer Schenn for Yandle straight up and let PHO think about getting a blue chip physical (inexpensive) center to go with their glut of strong physical 2-way forwards in the pipeline in exchange for Yandle who will become redundant within the next 2 seasons.
Then wait for Phoenix to counter (and hopefully someone will add if needed.)
Flyers have too many centers. Phoenix has a bounty of defensemen. Good trade partners.
I posted this ealier in the offseason and still think it's fair
1st, Paajarvi, Belanger
Edmonton may have to add a little. Phoenix can take their pick of one or two (depending on the piece) of Teubert, Lander, Omark, 32nd, Jones, Pitlick. It sucks for them to lose Hanzal, but i don't think Yandle straight up for Yakupov is a good deal unless we are getting another significant need filled in return.
Really? Edler IMO is a better defenseman than Yandle. Yandle has had the better offensive season so far, but Edler just keeps improving and has a much better defensive game IMO. Given a choice between the two i'd take Edler over Yandle, no questions.
I made my post without seeing your initial offer. Tried to post quick before the thread got too long and clustered.
I'd say Zibanejad and the 1st are going to be a good starting point, but the question the Coyotes have to ask if how NHL-ready is Zibanejad? He has a little more than a handful of GP in the NHL and Phoenix needs someone that is ready to play now. Foligno is not a bad piece. Wiercioch isn't needed IMO. I understand he's having difficulty cracking the Senators' roster and I feel he'd have the same problem in Phoenix. I think if he's moved it'd be to a team wanting to shore up on defense prospects. I just don't think Phoenix needs any more defense prospects at this time.
True enough on Wiercioch. I think Zibanejad is close to NHL ready. Maybe 15 games in the AHL to start the year, maybe not. I don't know if Phoenix would be into having to wait a bit for Zibanejad, but he'd likely be a nice piece for them.
Yes. Keith Yandle is a top-pairing defenseman just entering his prime. High-end defenseman who can move the puck, log a ton of minutes and play in all situations are among the most valuable commodities in today's NHL. Look at what Erik Johnson commanded.....and Yandle is way ahead of where Johnson was when he was dealt to the Avs. Paajarvi is a good prospect who "could" be a top-6 gamebreaking forward but there are no guarantees. Gagner is a good multi-purpose player but far from elite. If anything the Oilers will need to add more.
