I'd have done it just to turn around and make the exact same deal they did sending Carter to LA.

Every time I see "Eklund" I think of Pelle...

They need center help.

Something around Schenn for Yandle would seem the starting point.

I want schenn to stay, he's going to be very very good, he's a complete player, they don't come around to often

I want him to stay too..I was very impressed with his second half and through the playoffs. In the Devils series he was one of the few people using his physical attributes...but unfortunately we need a solid D man.

Yandle is great and I'd love to have him, but he's more of a Kimmo replacement then a Pronger replacement. I'd offer JVR+1st and maybe Read, but that's about it. Certainly not Schenn or Couturier.

We all want Schenn to stay. But if it means getting the top-pair D we need....

Plus he's on a contract similar to what Carle's going to get.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing as far as comparison.....Pronger's shoes will be hard to fill but maybe they go after Weber next season....if they can't land him this year.

The upside if they landed Yandle is that he would cost a little more or equal to what Carle will cost.

It allows to have Yandle at 5.25 and make a play for Weber this offseason, trade deadline, or next offseason.

In an insane bizzaro world, you could have both Yandle and Weber (right as Kimmo hangs up the skates).

Trade Schenn + for Yandle.

Trade Meszaros for cap space/bottom 6 center.

Re-Sign Jagr for 1 year.

Go after Weber with Timonen/Jagr's money next year.

This. 100% this. Not only is Yandle a tremendous defenseman, but he's 25 and signed for 4 more years... at 5.2M. It's simply too good to pass up for Schenn +.

Keither Yandle... making slightly less than James Wizniewski.... it's disgusting.

Yeah makes sense...they could make a pitch for him at the deadline too like you noted although next offseason seems more doable with Kimmo hangin up the skates although if somehow they pulled off Yandle and Weber..somehow I would think Kimmo might want to play one more year at a discount to get a cup....

I'd do Schenn, our 1st, and Carle's rights for Yandle. Maybe throw in Shelley for cap/roster space.

I think I am the only one who doesn't want us to trade Schenn for Yandle lol. I would prefer a package of JVR+Cousins+1st this year for him. Top 6er, top prospect, top pick.

I really don't think Homer wants to move Schenn or Couturier at all.

Also what does Pittsburgh(rumored to be in he mix) have to offer besides Stall(who probably won't get traded there because of the whole brother thing now) We can beat any of their offers.

I agree. I wouldn't trade guys I just acquired. Especially when we keep trading away our physical guys. Fix the d some other way.

Yea I said Stall lol, but if you were Phoenix and just learned he turned down a 10 year 60 million dollar deal, would you trade for him? There is really one team I think that has a great shot at getting Stall tomorrow, and it's the Hurricanes.

Penguin fans are delirious also

The poster above I agree with, you don't trade the players you just got. Let the kids develop please. We have a forward who is supposedly loved around the league. I think Phoenix might bite on a package around JVR.

I second this. Let Schenn grow to properly evaluate exactly what we have with him. He could absolutely be something special and we just got the kid. With any of these deals be it Nash, Ryan, Yandle ect. JVR and our pick are the two main pieces I'm willing to part with along with Bob for Nash. There are ways to address the need or at least minimize the weakness with defensive depth signings and/or signing a defensively responsible forward without moving Schenn.
