Can't objectively see Phoenix getting a whole helluva lot more.

Not saying something a lot, something like 2nd tier prospect imo.

As stated earlier in this thread, the coyotes have a good group of puck-moving defensemen coming up through the pipeline (Gormley, Rundblad, OEL), but not a lot of good core centers. Bruins have the exact opposite situation, with good centers (Knight, Spooner, Seguin) and no puck-moving defensemen.

While I do think Yandle has a little more value than krejci, I thnik a 3rd rounder is little too much, while a 5th is too little (Bruins don't have a 4th). Ray Whitney's (who is a UFA on July 1) would even out the deal nicely.

btw, whitney would fit in just fine on the second line next to Bergeron and Marchand. It would be like Recchi never left.
You're absolutely right. I just think with Hamilton likely to make the roster this season, that position isn't exactly QUITE as bad as it used to be. Don't get me wrong I'll be doing backflips if we get Yandle, I just think Phoenix could get better offers if it's only Krejci and a 3rd. I honestly think we could sign Whitney on our own without him being a throw in.

I'd rather trade Krejci for Nash if we're gonna have to give him, a 1st and someone like Boychuk. But if it's Krejci and a 3rd for Yandle and Whitney I take that all day. I just can't see it, tbh.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong

Like Kucherov or something?

Tampa's not exactly playing with a packed cupboard.

I dont think Yotes need another D-men.

They need help on offence, and have excess d-men hence trading Yandle for offence help.

Voracek was much more accomplished than Connolly though, right? He was already pretty well established as a 45-50 point forward. The Flyers could make that deal feeling confident that he could step in and provide at least that the following year. Connolly is a bit more of a project--

It is a good start for Tampa, for sure, but they would likely need to add a prospect on the end of that.

You're right. Other teams do have more to offer, but on a right now basis, this is the best deal for both teams. Just depends on Phoenix's mindset for the future.

btw, I noticed I forgot to add center after playmaking.

Sorry to go off topic but Erik Johnson is not currently a #1 defenseman.

Here are some of the #1 defenseman across the NHL:
Niklas Lidstrom(still could be)
Shea Weber
Zdeno Chara
Drew Doughty
Keith Yandle
Alex Pietrangelo
Duncan Keith
Erik Karlsson
Kris Letang
Ryan McDonagh

Erik Johnson has a long way to go to be as good as those guys. Right now he is a quality #3 d-man. He can probably anchor the 2nd pairing but he still has a lot of work to do in terms of hockey sense and decision making. His offensive skills also need some refinement. Just because he is the best d-man on the Avs doesn't make him a true #1.

To get back on topic, the Blues offer Oshie, Cole, and our 1st round pick for Yandle.

I think Tampa should be all over this. Their defense is in shambles.

I think they should consider dangling Vinny Lecavalier out there. Vinny seems like he needs a change of scenery, but is still a great forward in this league. Phoenix could use someone like Vinny.

Dont know why people are so quick to deal Duchene. One year ago it would have been unthinkable...

The kid still has all the potential in the world to be a franchise center.

id love to have yandle but not at that price. Try Jason Garrison. Were not making a trade for the sake of making a trade. Who fills Oshies hole? Why would PHX want Cole right now? They have great d prospects.

TB isn't trading Vinny, and PHX can't handle Vinny's salary.

Simple as that.

This is the same Vinny that comes with a 7+m price tag...yep, I'd say that Vinny's got less than 0% chance of landing in the desert.

Phoenix cannot afford someone like Vinny, though.

Coyotes must be looking for offense. Still I would imagine they would only deal him if they can acquire another defenseman in the deal or in a separate transaction.
