http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/201...-keith-yandle/

here is a link to an oilers blog i just read that had some interesting points

"According to Behind the Net, six defencemen on Phoenix in the regular season also saw tougher quality of competition than Yandle. That’s a big one, and it’s why he likely was a second pairing guy in the playoffs"

IMO it would make the most sence to try to get Staal from the pens or JVR+ from Phily for him.

the need in PHX isn't for picks or prospects they have plenty of prospects and are stacked on the wings

and blueline

the need is for a 5 tool all around pivot that excels in faceoffs and can score

IF R.Nash was a 30 goal guy last year then maybe a solid 20-25 goal guy is more of what could be expected for Yandle...

there that reduced the number of potential partners in this trade scenario from 25 to about 7

the Kings
Devils(Henrique/Zajac)
Flyers(Couturier/Schenn)
Rangers(Miller/Dubinsky)
Penguins(Staal right...?)
Colorado(Stastny/Duchene)
St.Louis(Oshie/Perron)
Oilers(Eberle/Gagner)

there could be an argument for others

but these are the teams with the necessary quality and starpower amongst young cheap pivots

To St. Louis actually makes a lot of sense. Not sure what the trade would be, but it makes sense.

Oshie would be missed but he isn't a true difference maker. He is a nice 50-60 point winger that might be able to play center. He hits hard and plays strong defense but we have a lot of good defensive forwards.

Ian Cole is a very solid defensive prospect that has 2nd pairing potential. However, with Yandle, Jackman, and Russell in the mix, he wouldn't be missed at all.

And the 1st is the 25th overall pick. While I think we can get a really nice prospect, we aren't talking about a top 10 pick.

It's a fair price to pay.

And making a trade for the sake of making a trade? Adding Keith Yandle would be amazing. He is a #1 defenseman. Think of Pietrangelo and Yandle on the ice for 25-30 minutes a night.

If we want to make our defense into a Cup caliber defense, then we should add Yandle. Not Garrison for 5 million a year.
I doubt the Desert Dogs would want Cole, when they have former Blue draft pick Rundblad waiting in the wings, The Desert Dogs would want forwards/prospects/picks IMO

As a Pens fan, I'd consider Staal for Yandle straight up. Deals from position of strength on both teams and addresses each others needs.

Yandle to Boston makes a lot of sense.

They have 2-3 good offensive centers, and the Coyotes are lacking there.

He is from the region.

Would make their defensive core set for the present and the future.

I agree, I think Boston is a really solid potential fit. Out of conference, fits both teams needs, both teams could get a youngish player (Yandle for Krejci for example).

He would be a really solid fit in Edm too, but I doubt theyre willing to give up a big enough piece.

Yandle and 27th for the first overall.

Either way Yandle to Edmonton makes the most sense.

Would Phil McRae hold any value to the Yotes?

Oshie or Perron, McRae and a 2nd for Yandle?
