The conference finalists get re-seeded 27th and 28, and SC runner up 29th and SC winner 30th. Canucks had the best record for a team that didn't make the conference finals, so they got the 26th pick.

No clue, apparently he was ranked in the 2nd by many though, so we did steal him in the 4th.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious here. LaBate was a 4th round pick and was drafted partially due to the emphasis on big forwards (also drafted Grenier for the same reason, and arguably Jensen also fits that mold although he was also BPA).
