According to a Swiss local hockey site, Jonas Hiller and Bobby Ryan were about to be exchanged against Ryan Miller from the Sabres. The exchange would have been canceled only because when it was the moment, Miller got injured in a clash against Lucic (Boston Bruins)
New rumors about the same trade would be resurfacing according to this site.
It was last fall, while Hiller was still not back to form after the vertigo issues.
The way he played the second half of the season he's obviously back to form and there is less than 0% chance of that trade occurring, and no reason to trade a goalie they know works in Boudreau's system regardless of the other parts involved.
A healthy Hiller is a top 5 goalie in the league, Fasth is going to be a key, key guy for us, Hiller should only play 60-65 games, it also would help if our defense wasn't total garbage!
In short, the gap between Hiller and Miller is not Bobby Ryan
If there's a gap I'd say it's the other way. Miller is, imo, the most overrated goaltender in recent memory. He had one really good year, and has been decent in other years, but not so 'decent' that I'd put him in the current top 10.
