He would bring so much to the Leafs - and I think they were showing interest at the deadline too.

Could a deal be worked around something like this:
to Tor - Ott, Ribiero, 13th overall
to Dal - 5th overall, Franson, Bozak (or Kadri), Armstrong/Komisarek/Connolly (got to take some salary back)
This is the first decent to good proposal from a Leafs fan that I have seen in a long time.

Florida has an extreme need for a C like Ribeiro.

I do not keep up with Florida or their prospects well enough to know who Dallas would want. We're looking to get younger top 6/4.

Can't see Ott coming to play in Toronto if Ribeiro is coming too. Where is Ott going to play? On the third line?

IIRC weren't there some issues between Ott and Dallas because he wanted no part of playing in the bottom 6 or something?

Or is this just a complete fabrication of my imagination?

Not true. Ott has never been a problem for the Stats. He's a team player and has stated several times that he'll play where needed.

That was true. Ne didn't fuss about it, and definitely wasn't a distraction, but he's said in interviews he thinks he's a Top 6 forward. Just before they signed him to an extension he indicated he was ready and wanted more responsibility.

Sounds good to me.

Adam+ 21 for Ribeiro.
I think Dallas would rather do the Ott one since they don't have a replacement for Ribeiro.

If Dallas is somehow getting Dubinsky without giving up picks and prospects .... Dallas does it.

GMJN is particular about his players. Ribiero has never seemed to mesh well with him.

Right or wrong, I have little doubt that Joe would prefer Dubinky in Dallas' Top 6 over Mike Ribeiro.

He can play on the 2nd line with Grabovski and Kulemin. Ott would help the Leafs in so many ways!!!!

What would the Stars want from the Leafs to package both of them together?

Mike Ribeiro and Steve Ott would solidify our forward depth and won't be too expensive.

I think Cams proposal is a great jumping off point.

for 5th overall, Franson, Bozak, and Armstrong

Dallas has a chance for one of the upper echelon centers in the draft, replaces Ribs with Bozak and gets a pretty good young defenseman in Franson. Armstrong as a cap dump for one year is very doable.

I wouldn't. I don't think there's enough of a drop off between 5 and 13 to make the move and otherwise, Dallas is giving up the two best assets in the deal. The Stars could get more elsewhere.

It just doesn't seem realistic to me ... that NY would do it I mean ... but I think GMJN would jump at Ribeiro + Ott for Dubinsky + Boyle. I think he would prefer Boyle over Anisimov.

I disagree about the dropoff ... not sure about whether Dallas would do the trade though.

You're getting a shot at Reinhart, Galchenyuk, Teravainen, or maybe Forsberg. That's a pretty big gap to the forwards at 13, and I'd argue Reinhart has better potential than Ceci (who may not even make it to 13).

Sorry, you're getting a Nucks fan.

Primarily, this stems from his style. Tanev plays a solid defensive game that is rather mature given his age and inexperience. He was a stabilizing force for Ballard and has paired quite well with Edler and Salo on the brief occasions they lineup together. Very calm and not easily frazzled, although he is prone to blunders, perhaps the most noteworthy being if he is having an off game or two, it really shows. Similar in a sense to Edler, just nowhere near the ceiling. If I were to project what he might become down the road: Josh Gorges.

Truthfully, he is not highly valued when it comes to the market, at least not right now, hence why many Nuck fans dangle him in trades. Others, myself included, refrain because we are not nearly as good defensively as people like to believe. Therefore, Tanev has more value to the Canucks than any other team.

Absolutely, no. Hansen is one of our most hard working players short of Higgins and has been exceptional in the bottom six role. At his price, he is frankly a better alternative to Ott, thus we have no reason to trade him. Tanev is likely off the table unless we can use him in a package for a higher tier player. If we are dealing for Ott, it will be with picks and other prospects not named Jensen. Granted, if we can get rid of Raymond. By all means, deal from the roster.

Colorado reportedly pursued Ott heavily at the trade deadline. I am not sure the Avs would still be interested with their acquisitions of Downie and McGinn.

How about:

Ott and Ribeiro

Hjalmarsson, Morin, Stalberg, Kruger, 18th overall

What about this?

To Dallas: Markus Kruger, Jimmy Hayes, 18th overall

To Chicago: Mike Ribeiro, Tom Wandell

I think we would. Hjalms is on the block. Stalberg is a misfit in our top 6. Kruger doesn't have a role if we acquire a 2C like Ribeiro. Morin is blocked by Kane/Sharp/Hossa as top 6 winger.
