Not that anyone asked, but here's my top-40 :
  1. Nail Yakupov
  2. Filip Forsberg
  3. Ryan Murray
  4. Alex Galchenyuk
  5. Morgan Reilly
  6. Jacob Trouba
  7. Griffin Reinhart
  8. Teuvo Teravainen
  9. Matt Dumba
  10. Olli Maatta
  11. Radek Faksa
  12. Mikhail Grigorenko
  13. Hampus Lindholm
  14. Zemgus Girgensons
  15. Derrick Pouliot
  16. Cody Ceci
  17. Slater Koekkoek
  18. Sebastian Collberg
  19. Thomas Wilson
  20. Dalton Thrower
  21. Tomas Hertl
  22. Brendan Gaunce
  23. Henrik Samuelsson
  24. Andrei Vasilevski
  25. Scott Laughton
  26. Mark Jankowski
  27. Brian Hart
  28. Oscar Dansk
  29. Pontus Aberg
  30. Brady Skeji
  31. Matt Finn
  32. Lukas Sutter
  33. Malcom Subban
  34. Ville Pokka
  35. Jordan Schmaltz
  36. Dylan Blujus
  37. Ludvig Bystrom
  38. Phillip Di Giuseppe
  39. Martin Frk
  40. Scott Kosmachuk

Just an FYI, I'm at work so I'm doing this from memory pretty much, lol. Kerdiles was at #42 I believe, and Matteau at #41.

Did a mock draft with some guys on the mock board and ended up with:
#28 - Tom Wilson
#59 - Dylan Blujus
#89 - Chandler Stephenson

Would be incredibly pleased with that.

Take a risk once in a while and go for the gifted player with question marks. We've done it before and lets do it again.

Screw the safe picks.
Isn't it an even bigger risk when you not only use a 1st round pick on that kind of player...but also trade assets to move up to do so? I have to assume moving from 28 to 15 will cost at least a 2nd round pick...and perhaps even a 3rd or 4th as well.

You have to take a risk every now and then in the draft. It's great that we have been selecting good character, reliable players but the Rangers pipeline is bereft of top end talent. Being a moderately successful team means that we are rarely in a position to select or trade up and select someone of Grigorekno's ability.

Just assuming you left Yakupov off due to being the obvious #1? Lol

My fault. I had scrolled down the page on my text doc I was writing them down on and forgot to copy over the first three. Should be fixed now, lol.

I think Toronto is going to take Grig. They're desperate.

I haven't been following this draft like previous years.

Why all the Kerdiles jokes?

SM has been superhot for Kerdiles since the draft talk has started.

On #TSN990 this morning, Francois Gagnon said there are teams in Pittsburgh who believe Grigorenko could slip into the 2nd round #NHLDraft
I'd be blown away if that happened.

I really don't see that happening. Again, I know next to nothing about the draft but a guy who was a top 3-5 talent does not slip into the 2nd round... and he better not get past 28 if he does tumble. Get me Grigs!!! Or Vasilevski! Or Pearson! Or I guess Kerdiles!!!!!

Cheraponov. Tarasenko. Kuznetsov.

Happens almost every year.

Fowler was supposed to be top-3, he went 12. Players fall.

Once a player starts falling it like that, the whole" is there something every one else knows that I don't know?" mentality starts.

Oh I know that players fall and I remember waiting on every pick before we took Cherry.... I'm just saying I don't see him falling to #28 based on what I've seen/read about his talent. Obviously there are question marks, but I don't see him available to the Rangers at #28. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Can someone give me a 2 sentence brief on Grigorenko including the negatives that would lead some to say he'll slip?

Thanks!

From what I can gather if that he's an all world talent that has questions about his work ethic/desire. Add in that he's russian and people ssume he'll run to the khl for more money.

I think that about covers it.
