Draft Day, Baby!!!

So I live in Germany, It will be 1am when the draft starts. I will stay up all night to listen to it!

Anyone got any plans?
Any advice on what station to listen to?
What the biggest deal the sabres will make?

I got a feeling not much happens today when it comes to trades. Fingers crossed!

Biggest day in sabres history is today!

Got a big draft BBQ planned out on the deck. Nothing like +30 temps in the middle of summer to be planning a hockey party. Will be watching it on the big screen, sorry I can't help you out on info for radio. But hope Buffalo lands the player you want. Cheers and Good luck

Great job on the GDT as usual woodhouse.

Can't wait for the draft. I'm hoping to see the sabres make a move or two today before it starts.

Also, rumor came out that Staal turned down a 10yr 60million dollar deal, somaybe he might be dealt today.

Day two coverage is notoriously bad. I'd suggest sticking to your normal sleep cycles and signing up for a mobile alert if you must know the picks ASAP. Button (or whomever they got on their panel) will no doubt spend ten minutes pumping the tires of one prospect, followed by some random interviews; meanwhile x number of prospects will have been drafted as NHL.com slowly updates. I would hope they've remedied the production value for us draft geeks, but I won't hold my breath.

THN -- Draft clichés; so true.

Added three draft preview links to OP: And Baker is currently on-air with WGR's morning show hosts. [Podcast]

Apparently there is going to be hockey/draft guys on wgr throughout the whole morning show...

Anyone know if they are going to stay local this afternoon instead of airing the Jim Rome show? I don't really wanna listen to some fat guy get into a flame war from his mothers basement with a ufc fighter....or basketball or golf.....not on draft day....

I hope this years draft day 1 is as good as last year. I remember it was pretty tense, lots of guys running between tables and on the phones....

I also remember bursting out laughing at the Jets pick getting a blank jersey with an NHL logo on it....

Prediction: Sabres go best forward available at 12, take a D that no one is particularly excited about at 21. Very few (if any) trades: a few to move up/down... maybe Nash moves if Howson panics and wants more picks in this year's draft.

If the picks are kept (though I expect 12 to be moved)...

Ceci or Mattaa at 12.
Jankowski or Laughton at 21.

I'm still all in for Girgensons at 12 and if he's around at 21, Keokkeok (if they go one F and one D in round one).

I'd prefer Girgensons/Hertl.

That "Draft Cliches" article is so very, very true.

I personally can't wait for the number of posts that use the word "steal" in regards to players selected over the next two days. It's fine to be pleased with who a team selects, but the chest-thumping about guys who fell in the eyes of the generalized lists? An annual testosterone day-trip that usually leads nowhere.

I imagine one could make a potent drinking game from those cliches.

You're saying they don't all develop into stars and stud prospects overnight?!

Someone dug up the 2006 draft thread talking about the later rounds over on the Prospects Board. I think there was one (1.... ONE) guy who was mentioned in 8-10 pages who worked out. (And as I said here, I was please with who they'd selected, didn't mean I thought they were the be all, end all of mid-to-late draft picks ).

Darcy turned down an offer to move down from 21, per Kevin Snow on the Sabres Hotline show.

I suspect he's trying to move up or use that as a piece to move up still.

Yeah and it's just a bit too early right now to be doing that, especially with how unpredictable it seems to be.
Regier seems to feel the same way.
