EDM-MIN & EDM-CAR (no 1st overall)

With Clutterbuck being rumored to be available, I think the Oilers should go hard to get him for the third line.

Paajarvi + Omark + cond. 3rd
for
Clutterbuck + Latendresse (RFA rights)

I think Minnesota will find Paajarvi useful in the top 6 where they seem short on depth. He'd look really good a couple years down the road on a line with Granlund and Charlie Coyle. Omark has top 6 potential as well, just not in Edmonton. Seeing as he is unlikely to be resigning with the Wild, the conditional pick is based on Latendresse signing with the Oilers (2 years @ 2.5 million again?). He's an injury risk the Oilers can afford to take IMO. (unless he isn't just a throw-in for the Wild; is he going to be qualified, Wild fans?) *

For Oilers fans, this deal adds young, gritty forwards to the top 9 and creates more competition between players like Hartikainen, Eager, Petrell and Jones in the bottom 6. *

Gagner + Jones
for
McBain + Larose

The basis for this deal has been talked about for a while (Gagner - McBain). *Trading Gagner leaves a hole at second line center, which Hall can fill. Although Hemsky is also playing out of position, this second line, should they find chemistry, is incredibly dynamic and dangerous.

Latendresse RNH Eberle
Hemsky Hall Yakupov
Smyth Horcoff Clutterbuck
Hartikainen Belanger Larose

Smid Petry
Whitney J.Schultz
N.Schultz McBain
*
Dubnyk
Khabibulin

Bigger, grittier forwards and young, mobile depth on defense. *

As an Oilers fan, I like it. Not sure how MIN fans will feel.

I wasnt aware that Hall was a Center. Did he stated to play there last year? If so it can make a lot of sense for Edmointon to pkup Fail for Nail @ the draft

LaRose has been stated as being a career player for the Canes. They pretty much gave birth to him. However someone like Stewart or Brent would be more likely in that spot.

He can play center, but is much better playing his wing. Dont like him as a centerman personally

Pretty sure Minny says no as Omark has no value and although PRV has a nice ceiling, it's not enough to compensate for losing Clutterbuck and what he brings each and every game. With a small tweak (i.e. remove Omark and make the 3rd a 2nd) then you may get a deal done.

Clutterbuck would be golden on the Oilers.

No interest in this from the Wild. Not sure Clutterbuck really is available either. That was pure conjecture from journalists.

I personally don't think Hall at centre is ideal, which is why I'm open to trading down and improving our depth while drafting Galchenyuk/Grigorenko for the second line.

Thats a shame, really like LaRose. I prefer Jones over either of Stewart or Brent players am looking for looking for an upgrade for the bottom six. Anyone else fit the bill?

I doubt Minnesota even considers that. The only piece of value they get is MPS, and thats not nearly enough to make up for losing Latendresse and Clutterbuck.

Hell no to the first trade, no way Edmonton touches that. The second one i'd do in a heart beat but Carolina i dont think would.

No thanks from the Wild.

While Paajarvi and Omark might have top six potential which the Wild lacked LAST YEAR, compared to guys like Granlund and Coyle, not to mention Heatley, Setoguchi, Latendresse, and Bouchard, they just won't help the club.

I'd love Clutterbuck, but have no interest in Latendresse. Plus, I'm not sure I'd move Pajaarvi at all right now. His value must be lower than it will be in 9 months. Keep him. And honestly, I'd be surprised if Minnesota would want to trade Clutterbuck, despite speculation.

I would do this as a Canes fan probably, but as said before I can't see JR trading away Larose's dreamy smile

No thank you. Not a fan of either of those players. Though their shootout skills would've definitely helped the Wild win a handful of extra games last year.

EDIT: Also, I highly doubt Clutterbuck would ever be traded within the division (I know, I know- might not be in the same division soon enough), but the last thing Fletcher and Yeo will want is a former player pulverizing all their current ones six times a year. A spiteful Cal wouldn't be too fun for the Wild to play against.

I think MIN will ask for Klefbom in any trade with EDM.

Clutter for Klefa

That's something I'd consider.. Which probably means Edmonton wouldn't.

Clutter for Klef is highway robbery.

7th for Klef is closer, but only if the Wild thinks Klefblom is better than anyone at #7 and if Edmonton likes anyone at #7 better than Klef.

I'd love to get him with the Wild and pair him with Brodin but I just can't see how they make a trade for a prospect just ready to step into the NHL. Especially as EDM needs defense like the Wild do.

Damn, that's a rough trade for the Oil. I'd be more inclined to say one of the other close D prospects (Marincin or Musil) + somethin else for Cluts. Maybe add PRV or I'd even give up one of our young good prospects like Rieder.
