Can someone give me a 2 sentence brief on Grigorenko including the negatives that would lead some to say he'll slip?
Thanks!
Size, skating and skill. Tremendous vision and uses his size and speed very effectively. Could be a solid 2nd tier #1 center in the NHL if he pans out. The concerns are about his compete level on a shift-to-shift basis. His play declined in the 2nd half of the season, but it's been said that he was battling Mono late in the year and through the playoffs.
There's also the KHL factor. CSKA schooled kid, and that organization is teeming with cash right now. He hasn't given any indication that he'd jump the pond, but it's a concern regardless.
Well, if Brooks is right that the Rangers will move up to get him if he falls far enough, I'm guessing he doesn't make it to the 2nd round...or st least not past 28.

Would be a home run if the Rangers were able to swing that. I'm not a fan of guys with consistency issues, but his skill is too good to pass up.
Depends who's there. Ask me when our pick is around the corner. I have no idea who will and he won't be available. I love Jankowski, Wilson, Teuvinon (spelling), Matteau, Sissons, etc.
I was watching NHL Network's Mock First Round and my God, Craig Button and the other guy are the most optimistic people in the world. By the sound of it, every single selection is praised to the sky and if you heard it, you'd think you'd be drafting a perennial all-star.

He is like Hubie Brown. When TNT had the NBA draft. Every pick was a great pick. Two years later, the player was playing in Europe.

And supposedly, this is a weak draft. Every single player they talked about are made out to be some Hall of Famer. It's hilarious. Granted I don't know much about the prospects, but I think it's safe to say that not all of them will pan out.

They do it for the ratings. It's the same reason every player drafted gets compared to some elite, recognizable name when the selection is made. The hardcore fan knows Yakupov isn't the next Pavel Bure, but they make the comparison for mass-appeal.

But at least be objective and fair. Tell us the player's strengths and weaknesses. Don't talk about him like he's the second coming of Gretzky and Orr.

The NHL wants people to get excited about these kids. Few people will get excited if their team just spent a top-10 pick on a kid who might top out as a #4 D-man.

We're talking about the whole draft. For example, they had Teemu Teovinin (I forgot his name and how you spell it) and they said he was the most talented player in the draft. Where did he go? Like 18 or 19.

Teravainen should go in the top-10. He actually is one of, if not the most purely talented kid in the draft. Unfortunately, he's 5'10 and weighs about 165lbs soaking wet.

And then you have guys like Ceci and Skjei being proclaimed as sure-fire first pair defensemen. I mean, it's like these kids have no flaws at all.
