Staal isnt going to come close to touching that kind of an offer in unrestricted land. hes not a 60 million dollar player.
Not with that free agency class and the new CBA... but isn't that a testiment to Staal? He wants to be the guy, not a bottom 6 role player. Seems like he wants to play with his brothers, which he's been doing his whole life. Kind of refreshing to see some decisions made for other than money reasons.
It's amazing, everyone has an answer (problem solver) for everything. Firstly, no need to worry about Gabby's injury and it's impact on our already woeful offense thanks to the lockout. Add to that, just wait for the 201* UFA market, because we all know EVERYONE'S first choice is to sign with the NYR's.. Damn, guess there's no need for anyone to worry..about anything..whew!!
Lavoie said the Nash camp is getting impatient and is puting pressure on management to get a trade done.
I kind of feel bad for Nash. He really hasn't made this a public issue and hasn't moaned about it. He is voicing his opinion in house; kind of classy IMHO.

I think this is being lost in the discussion. He turned down a tremendous amount of money, which he is unlikely to see again (at least in a guaranteed sense) due to the expected limit on contract length that's coming. Good for him.
That being said, until I see a quote from him or an actual transaction, I'm not sure if the decision is based as much on "I want to play with my brothers" as it may be "I want an opportunity to be the guy". Obviously here and in CAR he could have both, but the press is making it seem like if/when he hits free agency, he'll be 80% towards signing with CAR and 20% with us. My hunch is that it could be more like CAR 25%/NYR 25%/Field 50%.
Shero isn't doing Staal any favors like trading him to Carolina.
This kind of thing makes me laugh.
He was "livid," because a player didn't accept his offer? The CBA structure allows teams to control a player for 7 friggin' years, and he's livid because a player didn't want to sign on for 10 more?!?!

He's probably not thinking too much about it now. No sense, he has no control of where he plays for a year. At some point, and this scares me, he probably has a LeBron/Wade conversation with his brothers and they talk about a plan to get together.

I just wonder how pissed his agent is.
He'll be even more pissed if he doesn't listen to what his client wants, he gets fired, and the new agent cashes in when he signs a $40 million deal.
