Steve Ott to Edmonton?

Edmonton are full of marshmallows and extra protection for the children should be a necessity today, what would Edmonton have to send Dallas to acquire Steve Ott?

MPS should get it done.

Morrow has a NTC. Chances are he'd only waive to go to a contender.

On of our local beat reporters feels Dallas is interested in Gagner. Not a rumor or anything so don't go nuts. He just said in his personal opinion it seemed the Stars could pursue Gagner. That was said via twitter several days ago ... I'll see if I can find it.

Can Ott play centre? Or is he more of a winger?

Found it:

@BruceLeVine22 @SportsSturm Yeah, he's [Dubinsky ... FYI] been on their radar for a while. I think they also like Sam Gagner for that role. Some good options.

Winger in Dallas, but the best faceoff option.

Ott for Gagner straight up. Gagner gives the Stars some offense and Ott gives the Oilers exactly what they are lacking. Size, Toughness, a pest with offenseive instincts.

Although Ott is great player, if I was the Oilers I would definitely try to flip Gagner for an accomplished Dman.

Agreed, don't start adding forwards via trade til the back end is resolved.

I like Gagner but Ott can get the crowd going for the young guns to rip it up. Momentum.

Dallas has Mark Fistric as well who could easily be available if it was for Gagner.

Is Fistric enough straight up for Gagner?

I think something might have to be added to Gagner if it was Ott+Fistric.

I'm little confused here, how is Ott going to help the Oilers. He's another LW that can play C and has the grit the Oilers need, but he's only 6'0 and 190-195lbs. He's not going to drive fear into opposing players. Do you trade for him or give Hamilton, Hartikainen, or MPS a chance to play and is it much of a upgrade over Eager, or Jones.

Wow Jones is painfully underrated by people, Jones is going to be a key third line energy guy for the Oilers going forward who can pot 15-20 goals a season. Hamilton, Hartikainen, or MPS deserve a chance but as of right now they are not a upgrade over Jones.

He may not be huge, but he plays huge. Hits hard, can score (not a offensive force, but will put them in more than many grinders), will keep other teams on their toes. As a Canuck fan, I would love to have Ott on our third line. I think he is one of the best 3rd liners in the game because of his attitude. The same attitude that makes me hate him when we play against him.

Pretty positive Gagner isn't enough straight up for Ott.

Not trying to thread jack, but just curious

How would Stars fans feel if Steve Ott was traded for a late 1st at the draft?

Pretty sure Ott isn't enough straight up for Gagner.

it's fine, Edmonton's #32 pick is similar to a late 1st rounder, which is also available for the right price.

Id rather hang on to him than get a late 1st rounder

Depends how late. He can get a mid 1st pretty easily, as he's an upgrade over Gaustad and pretty similar to Downie (both who got mid 1sts at the TD).

I'd probably do Ott + Fistric + 61 for Gagner + 32, but I have a feeling my value is a little off there.

If pick 26 came around and GMJN was willing to swap it for Steve Ott (likely with a bit of a plus from Vans side, mid-tier prospect) would Stars fans be upset?
