Regardless, we don't have much of a need for Enstrom and probably wouldn't make that trade.

Burmistrov, however, is a guy we'd probably covet (but I can never tell with GMJN and Russians). Would Ribs + 13th be enough, or would we have to add?
A puck-moving d-man in his prime, who eats minutes and puts up points? Nah, don't need that.

I'd kill to get Enstrom in Dallas! Jets are unlikely to part with him, though, and I don't blame them.

Depending on the pick, I'd be interested in this.

He's had a good ride, but I wouldn't feel bad if Otter was shipped out today. Assuming GM Joe gets good value, of course.

To Toronto Steve Ott

To Stars Frattin 35th pick

Leafs upgrade their forwards

Stars get top 40 pick and a guy that can eventually replace Ott at a cheaper price.

Stars fans would you do it?

No thanks. The pick is too late to be much of a guarantee of panning out; same for the mid level prospect. Ott is a good player he's just out-classed in the top 6 of a good team. Of all the veterans we should trade he's the one I least want to trade at this point, and if we do I sure as hell hope we can get something tangible (we can) for him instead of two major question marks that may help in 2-4 years.

It's not that I don't want Enstrom, just that we're not desperate for defenders, and we have no one to fill the hole left by Ribs.

Would you make that trade?

Maybe something like:

Could a deal be worked around something like this: Cap hits are a wash pretty much.
to Tor - Ott, Ribiero, 13th overall, 1st or 2nd rnd ('12, or '13)
to Dal - 5th overall, Schenn, Bozak, Kadri, Armstrong (for salary purposes)

Although I kind of like my first one better. May just be a matter of adding a combination of picks/prospects to get Schenn, instead of Franson - seeing as Schenn is signed for 4 more years, and is still developing, and was a 5th overall pick himself.

Just one of Bozak and Kadri would be better.

How much interest would stars fans have in Raymond? I know his value is at an all-time low but i feel like MG would look to move him at the draft.

Raymond + 2nd?

I would only do this as a Leafs fan, if they can somehow land another 2nd to replace the one they are trading away in this scenario, plus they don't have a 3rd, or 4th this year either.

That was offered at the deadline, and GMJN shot down without thinking twice.

Like you said, Raymond's value is at an all-time low and that 2nd doesn't make up for Ott's value to this team on and off the ice.

So thoughts on doing something around 26th overall + mid-prospect/pick

Ribeiro straight up for Enstrom?

Probably not.

I'd add to Otter to get him, though.

I'm still feeling that proposal from Tor with all those guys and 5th overall.

I don't see Burke as the type to trade down, though. Not this year.

So..

To Dallas - Luke Schenn, Tyler Bozak, Matthew Lombardi, Colby Armstrong, 5th Overall
To Toronto - Mike Ribiero, Steve Ott, 13th Overall, 5th round pick in 2012

That works for me as a Leafs fan.

Yep, I am all over that, though I would prefer to include Wandell instead of a 5th.

Enstrom is better than all of them and you can get rid of at least one of them. They in no way should prevent Dallas from getting the best player in the deal.
