https://twitter.com/#!/hackswithhaggs

According to Chiarelli they've sent qualifying offers to RFA's Tuukka Rask, Matt Bartkowski and Lane MacDermid. Have until Monday on Pouliot

My concern regarding MacDermid as well ... Just no place for him right now, or the foreseeable future unless something changes ...

Plus, I don't think he is a good call up unless Thornton or Paille get injured. Someone in the top 9? Not sure if they would pump Paille up and call up MacDermid, or just recall a more skilled player from Providence and keep the 4ht line in tact.

Kid is great in his role, but unfortunately that role is extremely limited. Would love to see him work his way into the Boston lineup, but the cards are certainly stacked up against him right now. Would hate to see him go the way of Nate Thompson/Matt Hendricks and thrive elsewhere because we couldn't fit him in here... But if he does, great for him. He deserves an NHL spot on a 4th line, somewhere.

I'm surprised that Arniel and Bodnarchuk haven't been qualified.

Is this final? I think they have more time to complete qualifying offers..

But I thought Arniel had the bestest prospects camp ever.

How many years does Sauve have left?

Plus he plays the PK.. which cannot be said about a lot of fighters.

Is the deadline for qualifying offers the same for all players? Is it confirmed that Arniel etc. won't be qualified, or have they just not been qualified yet?

Bruins have until 5pm Monday to make the rest of their qualifying offers (same for all RFA's)

There is no confirmation the others will not be qualified. Don't believe they can qualify anyone on the weekend because the NHL offices are closed so it's Monday or no-day

Just saw that the Bruins have until Monday at 5pm to qualify players.

I made an edit but Benoit Pouliot hasn't been qualified either.

This doesn't mean anything until Monday so there's still a small window of time.

Am surprised at Bodnarchuk not being qualified but I can see why they didn't (as of yet)

How did I forget Benny Poo-Poo?

This should be interesting.

Sauve is an RFA next year.

Cam was serious when he meant they were cleaning house in Providence this off season.

I would like to see Arniel qualified. I still think he can prove himself as a decent 3rd liner at the NHL level. The rest can walk.

Bodnarchuk is just WAY too small and more simply not good enough for the NHL, IMO. It will sadden Marchand, but time to let him go and work some of the new guys into the mix down there in Providence. Even without Bodnarchuk, it's a crowded blueline...

Yeahm Thornton for 2. Injuries could play a role though.... Honestly with Horton and McQuaid rendered fighting useless by concussions it wouldn't be the worst thing to get MacD in some games vs the toughies.

I concur. Would be extra sweet if Chiarelli could find a team willing to give up something of value, *any value*, for his rights ...

Wonder what a Thomas, Krejci, Pouliot package could fetch.

I would call it the HF tent de pantalon offer.

I'd do it for Yandle and a high (1st - 2nd round-ish) pick ...

If Thomas would be willing to play next season, no doubt we could get more ...

It seems like fighters are like defenseman. It takes them 4-6 years of minors before they make it to the NHL. A few like Lucic and Doughty show great promise and break in early. Thornton didn't become a full time NHL player until the year he won the cup in Anaheim at age 29.

I think MacDermid will be a nice fill-in over the next 2 years and then find a permanent job in the NHL. He is only turning 23 this year so there is time for him to round out his game in Providence. The Bruins will also give him the opportunity to take a spot in Boston if he plays well enough.

MacDermid is a very solid asset to the organization. He's a solid enforcer who can also play, much like Shawn Thornton. I love that we have a replacement for Thornton when the time comes.

And Bartkowski is a solid prospect. Still developing, but I could see him becoming a full time NHLer sometime.
