Hossa Signing

I don't remember, was there any buzz that the Hawks were going to make a run at him prior to him being signed? If they are shopping Hjalmersson and Montador I wonder if they are going to make a real run at Suter.

Nope Hossa came out of left field

We all expected Havlat back because that is what Tallon was trying to do

There was a lot of buzz the previous year. However, no one thought the Hawks could pull of Hossa the year he was signed due to the cap.

I was at the airport when it happened, on my way to Cuba. I was shocked because it was so unexpected, and angry because I thought they screwed Havlat

Ya I remember the buzz when they did Campbell and Huet....wonder if Bowman has a trick up his sleeve. Maybe they are going to make a play for Suter or maybe Bowman just hates the Blackhawks and doesn't want us to have any defensemen.

I was at The Taste in line to meet Campbell and heard it directly from a Hawks PR guy I was shooting the **** with, probably before it even went public.

Yeah, the day before I was hearing they were talking to Havlat so the Hossa deal was just completely out of left field. I was working so many hours at that time, like 80 a week, all different shifts, I would just come home and pass out on the couch in the middle of the day. I was living with my parents back then and my now brother in law woke me up and said, "dude, we signed Hossa!" I told him we were going to win the Cup this year and passed right back out, lol.

I remember thinking "Whoa, really?," getting excited like a mad man at our increased odds to do some major damage, and then concern that we might end up being his third in a row SCF losing team.

It was totally out of the blue. hfboards first reaction was say goodbye to Toews, Kane or Keith. When they found out the caphit and the term later, they started screaming circumvention. A lot of people also labelled Blackhawks the cup favorite after the signing.

Edit: Here is the thread

Hossa signs with Blackhawks 12 years 5.2 per

The Blackdopes will never win a Stanley Cup. I wonder if the incompetent dopes running that team realize they have no goalie.
A quote from the thread a couple posts up.

Epic.

Yep. Nutty times.

Got even nuttier when they all resigned in November.
