I would trade Subban straight up for Edmonton's pick, maybe add Beaulieu or something, in order to have the Russian Sedins, but no way I'd trade Subban AND our pick.

Look for me protesting in front of the Bell Center. Kypreos is full of hot air on this rumor.

I will need therapy if this happens.

It doesn't seem logical. You just can't look at our d-squad and conclude that we should move PK. All of our other d-property is either unproven or has suffered a major injury.

Barring other related moves, we'd be finishing near the bottom again next year.

Only way I could see them trading Subban is if they are adding another piece (not our first pick) for the #1 overall pick with Edmonton

It doesn't make sense to deal with Subban straight up for the #1 pick, never mind adding something. Subban's already a #1 NHL defenseman who drives the play against top opposition and is exceptional in all situations. Since 1997 the first overall pick has turned into a top-6 forward/top-4 defenseman/#1 goalie or better 86% of the time.

You're trading established talent for a huge amount of uncertainty there and creating a gaping hole in the Habs defense for at least 2 years (assuming Beaulieu faces minimal bumps in his development and does become a #1 guy about as quickly as Subban did). The risk is huge when you trade something already established (and still under team control for 4 years!) for something that might be better.

He should be removed from the NHL to never return.

There is no way the cost to move two places is PK Subban. HAHA Sportsnet idiots.

I don't care who we trade, so long as we win the trade including Pleks, Desharnais, and even Price. But I'd never trade Subban (or any player) just for the sake of moving him.

Haven't they learned their lesson with the giveaway of McDonagh. Subban has a higher ceiling still, he may be like fingernails on a chalkboard but he has tons of skill you don't trade away talent like that. If they trade him I will have doubts about Montreal ever wanting to be a contender. I am getting sick of Montreal trading youth away for old leftover scraps from other teams.

Yeah the rumor makes no sense.

I don't think I'd even trade Subban straight up for the first overall honestly.

Subban is going to be a better hockey player than 3 out of this year's 5 top picks. Imagine if we trade Subban, pick a guy and in 3 years when Subban is in Norris contention we find out the guy we picked is some kind of glorified Benoit Pouliot. Not cool. You don't trade young star players for high draft picks because when you have high draft picks you hope for them to become young star players. We're not talking about Crosbys here, the top guys in this draft are super hyped but so were all the busts that were picked before.

Again think Benoit Pouliot : he's super skilled, big and he skates very fast! great goal scorer! what could go wrong? (what went wrong is between his ears and he barely developed since his draft. it could happen with Yakupov for all we know)

Besides it being utterly ridiculous to trade Subban in moving forward to build a Stanley Cup team......I would find it somewhat classless, on some level, to do it on the day his brother is going to be drafted. Talked about having mixed feelings over the day. He'd be sitting there for his brother to get drafted in the next hour and he gets traded to another team. I can't imagine Bergevin being that stupid and that Gauthier like today.

Theres no certainty whatsoever that Murray is going to be a better defensemen than Subban.

where did anybody say anything about the Habs giving up their draft pick? How did "quietly shopping PK" become something else entirely? It could be any number of deals, and if the Habs were to get the first and 3rd overall it would be the start of a revolutionary rebuild of a largely impotent offense.

Would have been possible with McDonagh in the mix, but mistakes like that hurt for years. So, I'll be surprised if it happens.

C'mon...don't play the brother card. It is a business. I am sure Jordan Staal doesn't want to be traded on his wedding day but these things happen. Do you really think a team would sacrifice getting better because they don't want to hurt someones feelings.I would lose it if the habs traded Subban unless the team gets better. It doesn't make bergevin any less classy.

They had two 30 goal scorers last year and had a guy like Gionta who was the top goal scorer at 29 the year before on the sidelines along with markov who is one of the more skilled d-men. We could use more offense but I wouldn't call it impotent, just needs more health and more depth.

The only way I would trade PK without getting a superstar back(Stamkos Ovechkin malkin etc) is possibly for Ryan and Anheim's pick...but I don't think they would do it so it's a moot point.
