If he knows he has a good shot at Suter, and can somehow move Boyle now, ABSOLUTELY do it. It's almost like signing a big name free agent and then turning him around in a big trade. Free assets. I love Boyle, but if the Sharks can get Suter or Yandle it would go a LONG way toward averting a rebuild.
I would like to have Suter. Have to have him BEFORE moving Boyle!

You nailed it...

David Pollak ‏@PollakOnSharks
One reason draft never in San Jose: Been advised that NHL requires host team to pick up a big chunk of the cost involved.

The only situation I can honestly see Boyle traded today is if he asked to be traded and DW then asked him to waive his clause early.

I think TSN streams it, but that might only be available in Canada.

EDIT: heads up also that between 3 and 4 I'll be replacing this thread with a start-from-scratch GDT that will keep updated info in the first post or two.

Uhhh.. I don't think you "absolutely" trade Boyle because he "has a good shot at Suter".

It's risky to give up a guy like Boyle. He plays hard every game and has chemistry with everyone on the team practically.

You guys are pretty excited by a draft that some say is very, very weak. Must be the trades that may but probably won't happen.

My draft wishes.

The team doesn't try to get even more BORING than it already is by trading away Murray and Clowe... unless we get exciting replacements. Yes, they are our current scapegoats due to having a bad year last (never mind that they were playing hurt) but I think they still provide more value than they would return.

Can we draft a better team doctor/trainer?

We somehow land a Bobby Ryan type for Marleau. Then we draft a ready to play speedster.

Somebody gives us anything for Handzus.

Same for Mitchell

Jamie Mcginn is traded back to us for TJ (everyone hates me) Galiardi.

We're screwed.

Hey man when your only other alternative is cleaning your car, the draft is suddenly the most awesome thing in the universe.

Lol. I was into it before all the kids were... that and I had a handlebar moustache back in 2001. Also, I listen to bands who have names I can't even pronounce.

No... I'm just surprised by the interest a bit. I'm trying not to be to excited, as to avoid the inevitable disappointment.

I'd do that trade for a 2nd liner.

Damn, let me get you a Heineken Light

I'm not as much excited about our trades/picks as I am about the whole event. Kinda neat watching dreams come true for some kids.

Like foo, I could be doing something constructive as well (vacuuming the living room), so any excuse is welcome.

Pretty much. Every draft is thought to be "the deepest ever" the year before. As the season progresses, the draft gets weaker and weaker.

I'm interested in following the draft, but not sure if I'm going to watch much of it. Tonight is a pretty awesome Baseball night and unless someone is having a draft party, I might as well just follow it on the computer. I have a feeling the Sharks are going to make a trade though, as it seems like they are afraid to pick in the first round most years. Would like to see them trade for someone with speed, but I'm really ignorant on the whole thing so whatever happens, I'll probably like it unless there is a massive outcry or something.
