I can't really remember a draft this unpredictable since possibly 2005. Although in the end, the draft could end up going as all the lists have predicted, but there's a lot more chatter and speculation leading up to it.
Yakupov or Gal fall to the Habs... then Bergevin needs to round up a 10-12 pick and snag Grig too... would be
My bet is that if we can't pick a big centerman with this pick, we're getting one with the first pick in the 2nd round. A guy that might be more boom or bust like Nieves or Jankowski but we'd hope he'd take the boom route.
Okay other scenarios...we REALLY want to draft for needs. And since we seem to think that we are not going to make any trade and pick at #3, Habs go for....Faksa or Girgensons. Size and skilled big centerman. What would be the reaction here?
We need a dominating forward that's going to change the face of this franchise, so no, it's not time to stack our pool or take an NHL player, but go for the game changer.
You have to wonder though....nowhere does it seem that Forsberg will be our guy. So I guess we're picking Forsberg. The only reason we don't pick him is because our scouts don't believe that his offensive potential will blossom. So it better not be 'cause everything else means TOTAL package. Especially if Gally isn't there.
