Also Sam Carchidi just said Bob didn't like it in Philly on 610.
I don't think any goalie would like it in Philly with the high tempo offensive style they play.

After hearing the rumor from Eklund about the Flyers getting a star in the West that not a lot of people are talking about, and the news this morning that Yandle has become available, I really think Yandle is coming to Philadelphia tonight. Fantastic news if you ask me. He's a legit #1, and will cost significantly less than Weber.

He's a legit #1 who had 22 more giveaways than Carle did in the same 82 games on the season. Hell, he had an average of 3 seconds of PK time throughout the season.

He played better players and has a better shot.

Any truth to the Erik Johnson rumors? Would much rather have him to be honest even for a higher cost

Could see JvR for EJ being the basis of a deal

Um ..specifics? Didn't like playing in Philly or just thought the city was filthy or whatever....

If he didn't like playing in Philly yeah as a backup I doubt he liked that very much given his competitiveness...

The only problem with Yandle is that he's left handed. We really need a RH defenseman.

Don't you get the sense that EJ is considerably less "available" than Yandle, though? Have there been any substnatiated rumros that he's being shopped? Everytime I read something from an Avs fan, I get the sense that he's a pretty valued piece of their core. Unlike Phoenix, Colorado doesn't have a stud, top-end defenseman waiting in the wings (OEL). Some good prospects, but probably no future #1.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I could see a case for Johnson over Yandle in the abstract, in practice, I think EJ is going to cost quite a bit more...

So now that Bob has been traded, will Hovinen jump straight to the majors, or will they trade for someone? Or will either JB or ML be re-signed?

Edit: Saw the other thread now

Pretty sure I only want Yandle if the Flyers don't resign Carle.

I would assume he goes to the AHL, the Flyers sign a veteran back-up, and he only makes an appearance in the NHL if there is a significant injury.

Yeah I feel like Yandle's availability is tied a lot to the presence of OEL, Gormley, and Rundblad. The Coyotes need some talent up front, they probably have a tough time signing free agents, and they have lot's of defense to trade. If you're a team on a budget like Phoenix might as well trade the guy that is making the most money.

NHL source: Flyers unwilling to part so far with either Brayden Schenn or Sean Couturier, the two players teams with available studs want.

They won't make Hovinen the backup. In the article posted in the Prospects thread Chris Pryor said they expect Hovinen to be the starter in the AHL, with Heeter being the backup.

Eklund says JVR maybe to Winnipeg. I'd think that means Enstrom.

Why another center. That's my question?

Boo hoo. I trust the Flyers ability to scout.

It's tough to put a finger on Laughton's upside, but he will have a long NHL career because he can be trusted defensively.

NHL rosters are littered with former centers. If Laughton pans out, we can have Giroux-Couturier-Laughton down the middle in a couple years with Simmonds, Schenn, Voracek, JVR on the wings.
