Rawr...
EDIT: To be fair I just wanted the first reply.
I think this is a ton for Staal, but I expect Staal to put up career high numbers next year.

Who cares for Dumoulin, you can find guys like him always or sign via free agency. I'm very happy we trade him, as i expected, over Murphy, who's diamond and game changer.

Steep price, but not too much overpayment. I'm thrilled

I have a feeling we're going to regret this. I would have put SO MANY more players in that trade before Sutter. I would've given up the entire rest of the draft.
That being said, Jordan's a stud. Certainly a better player, but worth giving up that much when we could have just signed him next year?

Let's all look at Sutter's career numbers and realize that Jordan is pretty damn good defensively himself before we lament Sutter's inclusion too much. Dumoulin is the one I hate to lose here. I would have preferred Murphy.

My wife is inconsolable that Brandon Sutter is gone. Thanks for ruining my Friday night, JR.

We did argue them down from Ryan Murphy.
Looks like Tripp Tracy gets to break the news.
"Do you, Jordan Staal, now take--"
"I have an announcement!!! Jordan, you've been traded to Carolina!!!"

At first I thought this was a ton, it is a lot, but at the end of the day, I would rather have Jordan Staal. I do wish Sutter luck in Pittsburgh, I hope Dumo won't make JR regret this.

IF the trade that went down was playing hardball, we should have flipped Shero the bird after 90 seconds. I get the pick and Sutter....or Sutter and Dumo.........including the pick and Dumo is nonsense on a guy with an expiring contract that we knew would look at Carolina favorably once he hit the market.
We bought the right to pay Jordan big money and move Eric to wing.....and gave Pitt a good 3C and cap room to sign a quality winger(which we might be in on the same guys)

I'm happy, all we need to do now is draft Lukas and we can hold the hammer against Pittsburgh again in a few years right?

So...what are the chances that we can somehow land Justin Schultz now? He'd make me not quite so upset that we lost Dumoulin in that trade.
As far as Sutter though....ugh.

Losing Sutter hurts. A lot. But Jordan Staal may make it worth it.

Love it. Only gave up one piece on our current squad.
Gonna miss Sutter though.

Let's hope J. Staal can take that extra step this year. That's a huuuuuuge package for Pittsburgh.
