So are they going to be the Miami heat?

That's an 8th seed that was clearly the best team when the smoke cleared. They didn't get their act straightened out until Sutter took over as coach and talent wise, they are a much better team than we are as presently constructed.

Come on, luck of the draw got the Rangers to the ECF...No way they would have beaten anyone other than Ott and Wash IMO, even then it took them 14 games to do that much...

I'll be the first to admit that the Rangers still need to improve areas of their team, but they are ahead of the curve this year.

I hated, I mean absolutely hated Sather prior to the lockout, but to poo-poo everything he's done for this franchise after the draft is completely disrespectful. Almost (ALMOST) everything he's touched post lockout has turned to gold.

The Kings have a significantly more offensive talent and depth than the Rangers do. They didn't get hot, they had a pretty weak coach at the start of the season.

A 6th seed won the East.

I just think they improved their chances of landing Parise and even if they don't, they improved their depth quite a bit in one fell swoop.
There should be a sense of urgency for Sather to get off his ass and do something/anything that would improve our roster. That's all I'm saying here.

People absolutely do value young players of ours too much imo. Giving up ONE forward for a Ryan Nash won't kill us

That's clearly a bias remark to make. The kings have much better talent especially in the first three lines. I don't want to get into a pissing contest over this but there is no way we stack up with the Kings forwards especially in the size, grit and physicality department. Kopitar and Mike Richards are head and shoulders better than Richards and Stepan and Jarrett Stoll is better than Boyle who should never be a 3rd line center for any team.

We also have nobody even close to Doughty as a defenseman; he's top 5 in the league and you can split hairs arguing Hank vs Quick, they're that close!

You need to rethink what you said and be a little more objective.

As currently constructed we have a weak "Playoff" team. It takes some real skill come the postseason to pot some goals. Once an NHL teams philosophy changes to collapse and block anything and everything in the playoff's, the Rangers struggle to score. We need some creativity (skill) and size to actually have a shot at a Cup. By no means do I want to sell the farm for whoever, but it needs done... UFA isn't going to get us there, we need to move some pieces, I don't care if they're named Stepan, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Hagelin, Miller, McIlrath, Erixon etc.... The only guy in that group I would actually miss is Stepan, but you do have to give to get....

Other teams make risky trades all the time.

Rangers seem scared or something. I'm not saying trade the farm/roster but you THAT, worried about trading a couple of young players?

You're not winning a cup with all homegrown players.

And I thought I was the only fan objective enough to see it and say it. We have nobody on our team who remotely touches Kopitar, Brown, Mike Richards(as a 2nd center no less!), Doughty, Carter, and Jarrett Stoll(as a 3rd center).
Henceforth, Sather really needs to off his ass , do something to improve our roster and stop acting like a lot of fans around here think and that is, "All we need to do is tweak the lineup and we're guaranteed to make the ECF again!

You got that right! We had one of the most uninspiring, ordinary runs to an ECF in the history of the league. What? A 10-10 record with 1 more lousy goal for than goal against? Are you ****in kidding me??

Yep, a 6th seed that was clearly bigger, better and with more offensive talent than we had. The regular season means absolutely zilch!
