Right handed defensemen are harder to find. That's why Brodin plays the right side despite being left handed, it's too hard to find enough right shots.

That's what we need, but what are his offensive abilities? Too bad he wasn't a bit taller, but we have enough dmen that are 6'3 or 6'4 or 6'5. Plus he can still grow as well.

I was wondering if Shawn Belle would be brought up. Can you elaborate on the comparison. I've seen Belle play live a number of games. After watching tape of Dumba, I'm sure that Belle had/has a waaaay bigger frame. And is not nearly as fast or quick as Dumba.

Again, what's the basis for your comparison?

If he was taller, he probably would have been a top 5 pick.

Probably the best Offensive D in the draft...

In our prospect pool and team, Gilbert, Spurgeon and Prosser are essentially it on the blue line.

Well, it isn't just about height. Dumba may only be 6-0 but he is a strong 183lbs packed into the smaller frame of his. That is a quite strong package for a hitter.

I love how some of you can't love this pick! Dumba is a beast and just what the wilds need... and about his length, he is only 17!

I could not be more happy with this pick

Oh yeah!

Forgot! Dumba is pretty damn young, which is the thing with Wild picks. They like to pick guys that are pretty young.

IMO it wasn't his size, it was the fact that the top 6 picked to their needs, ANA obvs liked Lindholm more than an entire group of D. Dumba will grow half an inch, but will gain 15 lbs.

The more I'm reading about him online the more I'm thinking we got ourselves one helluva blue chipper. Did you all know there is more to the internet than HF Boards and porn sites? I've learned so much tonight.

When Flahr was with Ottawa they picked an undersized Dman who had an "amazing skillset", but there were concerns on wether or not it would translate to the NHL.

How big was Mike Peca?

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

No matter how big some guys are, they don't like to Hit. The willingness is the first step and from the tapes I've seen Dumba is more than willing to take more than a step...

And the kid can skate, obviously.

You know, I like this pick a lot. Dumba is the type of prospect we can start gambling on. Huge, huge upside. Work ethic. Great talent. And a huge risk but man, if we get this guy going on all levels, Minnesota is going to be a beast.
