Dean, you are a ****ing god for getting Fraser signed to that. The guy was awsome on the 4th line. He could've easily got $1.3-1.5 mill per on the open market.
Safe to assume there's no way the NHLPA signs off on a deal that forces players off teams with a falling cap but no equal percentage decline in either actual salaries or cap hits.
I love that Dean did these deals on Draft day do that we have great stuff to talk about too. Other teams trying to get a player for two or three years from now, we're running again next year.
very happy with this signing. Fraser solidified the 4th line to the point that it allowed BBF to roll four lines....even in crunch time without fear. the guy earned this and frankly imo earned this. like most, I saw him as a throw-in that would be let go in the wake of the Smyth trade. the guy came in and took over and raised the level of play on his line. great job by DL and i would love to see Colin become the next J Madden as the ultimate 4th line C
Nope $825,000 last season ... so same Cap Hit. More than fine having him back at that Salary, as well as Stoll's team discount, and if Penner signs for a discount like he claims he's willing to do, this will have already been an amazing off-season, and July 1st isn't even here yet
The amount surprises me. I've never seen a guy making less than $1 million per year NOT get a raise.
Many people were throwing around figures like $1.5m and even myself (Captain Low-ball!) was talking about $1.1m. All of a sudden ......no raise!?
Dean must have used some serious Jedi mind trickery....
A Stanley Cup ring and the chance to return to the team that won it, almost completely intact, is better than mind tricks.
That said, I predicted roughly this salary and said $1 million or more was just to much. And I stood by that even in the playoffs. He's good at what he does, but he's not worth $1 million. This is a fair signing for both sides.
